Resolved Question: Why are there no entry-level marketing jobs out there?

Are there any marketing jobs in san diego or in california in general? I am a recent graduate and barely can find any. I use craigslist, careerbuilder/indeed.com, monster.com, yahoo hot jobs, directly go to corporate web sites, but no luck. It seems like EVERY marketing job is 99% of the time for a "manager", "director", "senior", or some other high position, are there ANY entry-level marketing jobs? I know they are things like marketing analyst, marketing assistant, assistant brand manager, marketing associate/coordinator, etc., but they are barely any. I am willing to go to other states but it seems like it's the same thing over and over, garbage entry level jobs flooding job sites that are door-to-door labelled as "marketing", or manager jobs that I'm obviously not qualified for, what am I supposed to do? Is it the economy? This major? Or something else? I haven't found any schools in California that I can enroll in an MBA because they all require you work first, average age of entrance is normally 27-28 with 4-6 years of work experience. Unless I do an online degree which I wouldnt want to do. *Why are there more managerial positions than entry level? What other functions in a business should I look after? I also try product development, PR, communications, etc. *How can I work for online marketing firms that require things like Search engine marketing experience when I didnt learn that stuff in school? Should I get a certificate in it? Learn it somewhere? more

Resolved Question: Did my SEO developer in India do a good job?

I just finished my 3 month term around a month ago with my SEO guy I hired from India, and the results I got out of it was less than what I expected. At first, I was around rank 9 or 10 in my most popular keyword, and now, I am around rank 7 in the same keyword. It is not too much of a difference, and it has been around 4-5 months since I first hired him. I was expecting more of being in the top 3 positions for my shortlisted 15 keywords. SEO Tasks that he did was: On Page Optimization: Creating Content (keyword density) Meta Tags, Sitemap, H1 header, etc. Keyword Target Pages Website Analysis (Load time, alt tags) Off Page Optimization: One Way Inbound links (150 Links, many which are PR0 and PR1) Manual Submission to Search Engines Directory Submission (30) Article Creation and Submission (2 Articles, 10 directories) Video Creation and Submission (1) DMOZ Directory I paid $1,000 for the services above. 1. Should I pursue my SEO with him, knowing that every month he can bring me 40 inbound links for $150 a month, and will that bring my ranking to a higher position? I would still want to target being in the top5 in my major keywords. 2. I have another website that is very similar to the site that was just optimized, more like a site offering the exact same products, but just a different design of the website. Should I have that site optimized as well? FYI, both of the sites are under the same webhost, if that should matter. Thanks in advance to everyone! Gray more

Voting Question: Why is my youtube video ranked on google #1?

Hi, I made a video a couple of weeks ago.. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU03-fd-2Ok Now my question is, why when I type on google the keywords, "Tramadol Ultram without Prescription", this video is #1? I recently changed my title on youtube from "Tramadol Ultram without Prescription" to "Tramadol without Prescription" since it gets more hits on google. The video hasn't changed ranking positions for those keywords on google. Can someone tell me what triggers google to rank youtube videos? I would really like to know so I can have some of my videos ranked higher in the search engine. I appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advanced -Eric more

Resolved Question: What is difference between directory links & Website links?

We are using directory submission for Higher Position in the Search Engine Results and link building for increase Page Rank (PR). But Using same process for uploading links ( like HTML tags “< a href=” http://www.sbwebx.com ” > SEO Company</a> “ ) So, if same process using uploading links, then also google crawler algorithm is same for both. IF I am right, then please explain difference between directory links & Website links!! more

Resolved Question: Issue(s) with '99 Mercury Cougar?

Hey all... I'm new here, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all, and learning from you. With that being said, here's the issue(s) (Sorry if it gets a bit long winded...) My wife's 99 cougar has been acting up lately. I guess that this has been going on for some time, but she neglected to tell me (I guess she thinks I'm Kreskin and I was supposed to just know it was an issue). Anyways, It's gotten really bad in the past 3 days, when the temperature here dropped well below 0 degrees. The car seemes to start ok, and the RPMs goes up to about 1000, then it falters and stalls out, unless I keep my foot on the gas. When it stalls out, the whole car vibrates very badly. Her check engine light was on (and has been for about 2 years now), so I took my code reader and she had 14 errors. Here's the errors... P1507 - IAC Underspeed Error p0156 - HO2S Sensor Circuit Malfunction p0402 - EGR Flow Excessive Detected p1401 - DPF EGR Sensor Circuit High Voltage Detected p1131 - lack of HO2S- switch p1151 - lack of HO2S- switch p0301-p0306 - cylinder 1-6 misfire p0171 - Bank 1 too lean p0174 - Bank 2 too lean I erased the above codes so that I'd know what I had to start with. I called a friend of mine and he in turned called a friend who used to work on fords/mercury's, and he said to check my Vacuum Advance Tube. Well, in the process of trying to figure out how to disconnect it from the boot after the MAF, I broke the flexible tube, so i went to the nearest Autoparts store and got a piece of tubing. My friend told me to plug up that tube and when I did that, the car seemed to respond back to normal. All indications pointed to some sort of a vacuum leak, since when the brakes are applied it took a little longer to stall out. After stubby-ing in a piece of hose, I still have the problem. Another friend suggested it might be a fuel pump, fuel filter, or maybe some gumming up of the gas lines since she has to park in the street and the fuel lines are setting up against the snow. So earlier today I changed the fuel filter. I was suprised that there was very little gas that spilled out as I installed the new one. This seemed to help the idle and it also seemed to keep the car from stalling out. I also added a can of heet and a fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank. The car has 64K miles, so i figured that it was time for new plugs. After changing out the plugs, the idle seemed to be worse. I seemed to be getting some backfires while keeping my foot on the gas and again when the car stalled out. I listened for any vacuum leaks in the engine compartment, and i didn't hear any. I did however hear a very repetitious noise that seemed to coincide with the white markings on the timing belt as it rotated, but that could be nothing. I also bled the brakes in the car, as she said they were getting "spongy" and she had a hard time stopping about 75% of the time. I did not notice any air bubbles in the fluid as I was bleeding the brakes. I also noticed a smell similar to burning plastic or rubber, and there is a big hesitation when pressing on the gas from idle. After letting the car run for about 3-4 minutes, the Check Engine Light came on, and I read the code again. This time it was P0300 (Random multiple Cylinder Misfire). I quintuple checked that I had all the spark plug wires in the correct positions. Although I did the plugs one at a time so I wouldn't get them mixed up. So here's what I gathered from different forums for possible causes. Please tell me which ones I should just disregard as gobbledy-gook and which ones have some merit... 1. Fuel Pump (Title says it's a 99, but door tag says it was built on 6/10/98, so I'm not sure if the recall would apply.) 2. EGR valve stuck open and/or EGR solenoid valve clogged (most likely by the foam gasket) 3. Bad Idle Air Control Valve 4. Bad Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) 5. leak in vacuum hose somewhere in engine compartment 6. Plugged/Semi-plugged Fuel line 7. Air inlet plugged (I assume they meant somewhere after the MAF) I've done a lot of searching on several forums, and it seems that several people are having similar problems. However, it seems that everyone has a different answer for fixing the problem. Please leave your comments and/or if you have another idea. (Telling me I'm a complete moron is acceptable... lol ) Thanks! more

Resolved Question: What is the difference in instruments tuned in different keys? What is the difference in major and minor keys?

Hello! I am beginning to get into music and piano playing. I have several questions. What are the differences between instruments tuned to different keys, e.g. a flute tuned to the key of "A" and another tuned to the key of "G." Do they begin in different parts of the octave (e.g the neutral pitch being A or G)? Are they higher or lower in pitch? What of musical scores? If a piece is in the key of "F minor," what does that mean? Also, what is the difference between "major" and "minor"? For piano, a song may be in a key of minor or major. For ukulele, there are notes/hand positions that are major or minor. What does this mean? Is this considered "musical theory"? Are there any good books about this? Are there any particular search terms to use to find the answers via Google? I was unsuccessful using search engines. Thanks for your time! Have a nice day. more

Resolved Question: Are Mazda 6's reliable? when it reaches 100000 miles? ?

I was looking at a 2004 Mazda 6 earlier and I got really interested in it. It has about 111000 miles on it and there was only one owner (assuming he/she did a lot of high way driving) and its selling for $7250. Resolved Question: What position should I ask for at my current company?

Hi All, Your help would really be appreciated in this . . . I was hired on and currently work for an internet company as a web producer (updating our site through CMS and updating many small micro-sites). I’ve also owned my own small web business for the last 4 years and have been continually growing it on the side. I’ve been doing A-Z on those projects which include sales, design, development, QA, marketing, SEO and delivery. Though I was originally brought in as a web producer in this company, I have done much more then was expected of me and that I was compensated for. Our company has been going through dramatically down sizing over the past 3 months and we’re now starting to build it back up as the demand for the services are getting higher. Some of the work that I have done since joining include tons of designing (bottom to top) and developing, massive search engine optimization for 5 micro-sites and consulting for many other and as always general updating of the CMS site. I recently spoke with the VP of marketing and told him that I wanted to change my role to an SEO Specialist. He turned around and said that he thinks I can be more than that. He wants me to take ownership over a couple of the projects that we have (million dollars ones). He stated that by simply being the SEO Specialist, I will always end up doing similar work that I have been doing up to date and would probably be under estimating myself. My question: What would be the ideal role for me (the title) that I should ask for? We already have a creative director so that position is not available. What other positions would you guys recommend? He wants me to give him an answer and tell what I want my new title to be. I did a little research but then I thought I would try Yahoo Answers to get other answers as well. Cheers!  more

Resolved Question: Search engine optimization question?

I am planning on starting up an e-commerce business with a Yahoo shop and I am currently looking at ways to optimize for number one spots within certain search terms. The problem I am running into is their seems to be so many black hat techniques out there that it is sometimes hard to recognize genuine honest ways to rank higher within a search engine. I recently watched a video course by Stompernet that was shot around 2005 and they could not promote reciprocal linking enough. They were adamant that this is the number one thing you can do to boost your PageRank and nothing else comes close. Well as I said this was shot in 2005 and three years is a long time in Google's algorithm so does reciprocal linking still hold the key to search engine position or is there something new. If you could point me in the direction of where to find solid honest white hat PROVEN techniques to rank better in search engines I would be very grateful.  more

Resolved Question: what is barmuda triangle and where it is situated? is it mistry of this world http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl

http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl The Bermuda Triangle (also known as Devil's Triangle) is a nearly half-million square-mile (1.2 million km2) area of ocean roughly defined by Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and the southernmost tip of Florida. The Bermuda Triangle has become popular through representation by the mass media, in which it is a paranormal site in which the known laws of physics are either violated, altered, or both. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl While there is a common belief that a number of ships and airplanes have disappeared under highly unusual circumstances in this region, the United States Coast Guard and others disagree with that assessment, citing statistics demonstrating that the number of incidents involving lost ships and aircraft is no larger than that of any other heavily traveled region of the world. Many of the alleged mysteries have proven not so mysterious or unusual upon close examination, with inaccuracies and misinformation about the cases often circulating and recirculating over the decades. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl The triangle is an arbitrary shape, crudely marking out a corridor of the Atlantic, stretching northward from the West Indies, along the North American seaboard, as far as the Carolinas. In the Age of Sail, ships returning to Europe from parts south would sail north to the Carolinas, then turn east for Europe, taking advantage of the prevailing wind direction across the North Atlantic. Even with the development of steam and internal-combustion engines, a great deal more shipping traffic was (and still is) found nearer the US coastline than towards the empty centre of the Atlantic. The Triangle also loosely conforms with the course of the Gulf Stream as it leaves the West Indies, and has always been an area of volatile weather. The combination of distinctly heavy maritime traffic and tempestuous weather meant that a certain, also distinctly large, number of vessels would flounder in storms. Given the historical limitations of communications technology, most of those ships that sank without survivors would disappear without a trace. The advent of wireless communications, radar, and satellite navigation meant that the unexplained disappearances largely ceased at some point in the 20th Century. The occasional vessel still sinks, but rarely without a trace. It should be noted that both the concept and the name of the Bermuda Triangle date only to the 1960s, and were the products of an American journalist. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Other areas often purported to possess unusual characteristics are the Devil's Sea, located near Japan, and the Marysburgh Vortex or the Great Lakes Triangle, located in eastern Lake Ontario. Map of the popularly-held dimensions of the Bermuda Triangle; recent claims by researchers alude to a more "trapezium" shape, extending back into the Gulf of Mexico and down into the Caribbean Sea.Contents History The cover of the 1977 Panther paperback edition of Berlitz's The Bermuda Triangle First citations The first mention of disappearances in the area was made in 1950 by E.V.W. Jones as a sidebar on the Associated Press wire service regarding recent ship losses. Jones' article notes the "mysterious disappearances" of ships, airplanes and small boats in the region, and ascribes it the name "The Devil's Triangle". It was next mentioned in 1952 in a Fate Magazine article by George X. Sand, who outlined several "strange marine disappearances". The term "Bermuda Triangle" was popularized by Vincent Gaddis in a 1964 Argosy feature. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Popularized by Berlitz The area achieved its current fame largely through the efforts of Charles Berlitz in his 1974 book The Bermuda Triangle (right) and its subsequent film adaptation. The book recounts a long series of mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft, in particular the December 1945 loss of five U.S. Navy Avenger torpedo bombers in the infamous Flight 19 incident. The book was a bestseller and included several theories about the cause of the disappearances, including accidents due to high traffic volumes; natural storms; "temporal holes"; the lost empire of Atlantis; transportation by extraterrestrial technology; and other natural or supernatural causes. Skeptical responses The marine insurer Lloyd's of London has determined the "triangle" to be no more dangerous than any other area of ocean, and does not charge unusual rates for passage through the region. Coast Guard records confirm their conclusion. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Skeptics comment that the disappearance of a train between two stops would be more convincing evidence of paranormal activity, and the fact that such things do not occur suggests that paranormal explanations are not needed for the disappearance of ships and airplanes in the far less predictable open ocean. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Kusche's research Intrigued by the number of students coming to him looking for information about the Bermuda Triangle, Lawrence Kusche, a reference librarian with Arizona State University at the time of the Flight 19 incident, began an exhaustive follow-up investigation of the original reports. His findings were eventually published in 1975 as The Bermuda Triangle Mystery: Solved. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Kusche's research revealed a number of inaccuracies and inconsistencies between Berlitz's accounts and statements from eyewitnesses, participants and others involved in the initial incidents. He noted cases where pertinent information went unreported, such as the disappearance of round-the-world yachtsman Donald Crowhurst which Berlitz had presented as a mystery, despite clear evidence that Crowhurst had fabricated the accounts of his voyage and had probably committed suicide. Another example was the ore-carrier Berlitz recounted as lost without trace three days out of an Atlantic port when it had been lost three days out of a port with the same name in the Pacific Ocean. Kusche also argued that a large percentage of the incidents attributed to the Bermuda Triangle's mysterious influence actually occurred well outside it. Kusche came to several conclusions: The number of ships and airplanes reported missing in the area was not significantly greater, proportionally speaking, than any other part of the ocean. In an area frequented by tropical storms, the number of disappearances that did occur was neither disproportionate, unlikely, nor mysterious. The numbers themselves had been exaggerated by sloppy research. A boat listed as missing would be reported, but not necessarily its eventual, if belated, return to port. The circumstances of confirmed disappearances were frequently misreported in Berlitz's accounts. The numbers of ships disappearing in supposedly calm weather, for instance, did not tally with weather reports published at the time. Methane hydrates Main article: Methane clathrate An explanation for some of the disappearances focuses on the presence of vast fields of methane hydrates on the continental shelves. A paper was published in 1981 by the United States Geological Survey about the appearance of hydrates in the Blake Ridge area, off the southeastern United States coast. Periodic methane eruptions may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning. Laboratory experiments have proven that bubbles can, indeed, sink a scale model ship by decreasing the density of the water. Hypothetically, methane gas might also be involved in airplane crashes, as it is not as dense as normal air and thus would not generate the amount of lift required to keep the airplane flying. Methane can cut out an aircraft engine with very little levels of it in the atmosphere. Tidal waves Main article: Freak wave Research has shown that tidal, freak, or rogue waves can reach up to 30 m (100 feet) in height and are capable of sinking large ships within moments. Although these are very rare, in some areas ocean currents mean they happen more often than the normal. Such waves have now been hypothesized as a cause for many unexplained shipping losses over the years. Some research suggests that some of these waves are caused by giant bubbles of methane rising to the surface. These giant bubbles are created when methane vents at the ocean bottom become clogged; then pressure builds up and eventually the gas bursts out and rises rapidly to the surface thus generating the wave. Research has shown that such bubbles are able to sink scale sized ships with great ease and speed. Famous incidents Flight 19 Main article: Flight 19 One of the known Bermuda Triangle incidents concerns the loss of Flight 19, a squadron of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger torpedo bombers on a training flight out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 5, 1945. According to Berlitz, the flight consisted of expert Marine Corps aviators who, after reporting a number of odd visual effects, simply disappeared, an account which isn't entirely true. Furthermore, Berlitz claims that because the TBM Avenger bombers were built to float for long periods, they should have been found the next day considering what were reported as calm seas and a clear sky. However, not only were they never found, a Navy search and rescue seaplane that went after them was also lost. Adding to the intrigue is that the Navy's report of the accident was ascribed to "causes or reasons unknown". While the basic facts of Berlitz's version of the story are essentially accurate, some important details are missing. The image of a squadron of seasoned combat aviators disappearing on a sunny afternoon is inaccurate. Rather, it was a squadron of lost, inexperienced flight trainees forced to ditch their out-of-fuel airplanes into unknown stormy waters in the dark of night. As for the Navy's report, it is claimed that the original report blamed the accident on the commander's confusion (Lt. Taylor abandoned his airplanes twice in the Pacific after getting lost returning to his carrier), but the wording was changed in deference to the wishes of his family. Another factor to consider is that the TBM Avenger Aircraft were never designed for crash-landing into water. Wartime experience in the Pacific showed that an Avenger aircraft would sink very quickly if landed on the water. Especially with novice pilots at the helm - an Avenger would be very difficult to land on calm water - let alone the perilous rough seas in the Bermuda Triangle. Star Tiger If the disappearance of Flight 19 had been an isolated incident, it would have remained one of the great mysteries of modern aviation. However, aircraft disappearances continued to be reported near the same location, some accompanied by equally extended and confusing radio traffic, including that of a four-engine Tudor IV airliner named Star Tiger, in the predawn hours of January 31, 1948. Piloted by Captain B. W. McMillan, the airliner, which carried twenty-nine passengers and crew on board, had left hours earlier from Santa Maria, Azores, one of numerous scheduled fuel stopover points on its route from London, England to Havana, Cuba. While approaching Bermuda, McMillan made the expected contact with Kindley Field, the next stopover, requesting a radio bearing to calibrate his navigation systems and ensure he remained on course. With the response indicating that the plane was slightly off course, its position was corrected after Bermuda relayed a first-class bearing of 72 degrees from the island. At this point, with Star Tiger less than two hours flight away, McMillan gave confirmation of an ETA of 05:00 hours, an hour late due to strong headwinds; no further transmission from the aircraft was ever received. Armed with precise reports of the plane's last known position, rescue operations were launched after the craft was determined overdue for arrival; but no trace of the aircraft was ever found. In the report issued soon thereafter by the Civil Air Ministry, numerous hypotheses as to what might have occurred during the flight's final two hours are given, before each being subsequently rejected: "There would accordingly be no grounds for supposing that Star Tiger fell into the sea in consequence of having been deprived of her radio, having failed to find her destination, and having exhausted her fuel." "There is good reason to suppose that no distress message was transmitted from the aircraft, for there were many radio receiving stations listening on the aircraft's frequencies, and none reported such a message." "...The weather was stable, there were no atmospheric disturbances of a serious kind which might cause structural damage to the aircraft, and there were no electrical storms." It was ruled that the aircraft could not have gone off course, as the broadcast bearing from Bermuda, with winds prevailing, would have brought it within thirty miles of the island: "The aircraft could hardly have failed to find the island in a short time, in the conditions of visibility which prevailed." Engine difficulty was ruled out as a likely cause, since at such late stage in the flight, without the added weight of extra fuel aboard, the aircraft might have been flown safely on three, or even two, engines instead of the four it had. The probability of the aircraft entirely losing three engines in the course of under two hours was considered absurd. Faced with the accumulation of evidence, or perhaps lack thereof, the board of investigation addressed the loss of the Star Tiger with remarked eloquence: "In closing this report it may truly be said that no more baffling problem has ever been presented for investigation. In the complete absence of any reliable evidence as to either the nature or the cause of the accident of Star Tiger the Court has not been able to do more than suggest possibilities, none of which reaches the level even of probability. Into all activities which involve the co-operation of man and machine two elements enter of a very diverse chaarcter [sic?]. There is an incalculable element of the human equation dependent upon imperfectly known factors; and there is the mechanical element subject to quite different laws. A breakdown may occur in either separately or in both in conjunction. Or some external cause may overwhelm both man and machine. What happened in this case will never be known and the fate of Star Tiger must remain an unsolved mystery." 2 years ago http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl  more

Resolved Question: Help needed to make presentation on case study (two faces of JCpenney). please help?

Two Faces of J.C. penney In 2000, Dallas retailer Jcpenney (JCpenney.con) enhanced its e-retail position in time for the holiday rush by adding homegrown site features that let customers more quickly locate and pay for merchandise. With JcPenney.com, the company unveiled express checkout services that let customers zip through a purchase in as few as two clicks. It also inaugurated electronic gift certificates that can be redeemed online, plus improved order tracking to give customers more accurate delivery estimates. These features followed the earty November 2000 launch of Mercado Search, a search engine that lets shoppers prowl JcPenney's site by product category and receive results ranked according to relevance. In 2001, the company rolled out specialized sites dedicated to name-brand merchandise, making it easier for customers to find ceriain products. All these steps were designed to boost the company's online strategy. The success of JCPenney, com, in large measure, is a result of a customer service and logistics infrastructure built to support a multibillion-dollar catalog business that has been extended online. JcPenney.com broadened its appeal by launching specialiy sites to promote high margin brands, including Sony, Levi Strauss, Nike, and Kitchen Aid (appliances) The idea is to drive purchases of name-brand merchandise by providing more detailed information on those products, as well as direct links to the manufacturers. JcPenney is also conducting auctlons on its Web site. The company boasts strong integration between its Web site and its offline infrastructure that helps the site reach its aggressive sales targets. Anything purchased online can be picked up or returned at any JcPenney or Eckerd store. JCPenney has 14 customer-service centers nationwide that handle catalog and phone inquiries, and employees have been cross-trained in e-mail United Parcel Service (UPS) delivers most merchandise ordered online within 24 to 72 hours. JCPenney serves customers via three sales channels - stores, catalogs, and the Web site. Integrating these three channels will eventually play off, according to Forrester Research analyst Seema Williams "As the number of on-line shoppers grows, the impact from multiple channels will be felt much more on JcPenney's bottom line," Williams said. Despite the strong Web performance, e-commerce alone most likely cannot turn around a company of JCPenney's size. "The Web is such a small part of their business; there's no way it's going to turn around the company," said an expert. "The Web is icing on the cake, but the biggest pad of the company, by far, is struggling more

Resolved Question: what is the theme of this?

Flight to the South Pole 1 Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, brought what we wanted. At noon, the Geological Party radioed a final weather report: "Unchanged. Perfect visibility. No clouds anywhere." Harrison finished with his balloon runs, Haines with his weather charts. The sky was still somewhat overcast, and the surface wind from the east southeast. Haines came into the library, his face grave. Together, we went out for a walk and a last look at the weather. What he said exactly I have forgotten, but it was in effect: "If you don't go now, you may never have another chance as good as this." And that was that. 2 The mechanics, Bubier, Roth and Demas, went over the plane for the last time, testing everything with scrupulous care. A line of men passed five-gallon cans of gasoline to several men standing on the wing, who poured them into the wing tanks. Another line fed the stream of gear which flowed into the plane. Black weighed each thing before passing it on to McKinley and June, who were stowing the stuff in the cabin. Hanson went over the radio equipment. With de Ganahl, I made a careful check of the sextant and the watches and chronometers, which were among the last things put aboard. For days, de Ganahl and I had nursed the chronometers, checking them against the time tick broadcast every night from the United States. We knew their exact loss or gain. 3 The total weight was approximately 15,000 pounds. 4 Haines came up with a final report on the weather. "A twenty-mile wind from the south at 2,000 feet." I went into my office and picked up a flag weighted with a stone from Floyd Bennett's grave. It seemed fitting that something connected with the spirit of this noble friend, who stood with me over the North Pole, on May 9th, 1926, should rest as long as stone endures at the bottom of the world. 5 There were handshakes all around, and at 3:29 o'clock we were off. The skis were in the air after a run of 30 seconds--an excellent takeoff. A calm expectation took hold of my mind. 6 Had you been there to glance over the cabin of this modern machine which has so revolutionized polar travel, I think you would have been impressed most of all--perhaps first of all--with the profusion of gear in the cabin. There was a small sledge, rolled masses of sleeping bags, bulky food sacks, two pressure gasoline stoves, rows of cans of gasoline packed about the main tank forward, funnels for draining gasoline and oil from the engines, bundles of clothing, tents, and so on ad infinitum. There was scarcely room in which to move. 7 June had his radio in the after bulkhead on the port side. From time to time, he flashed reports on our progress to the base. From the ear phones strapped to his helmet ran long cords so that he might move freely about the cabin without being obliged to take them off. His duties were varied and important. He had to attend to the motion picture camera, the radio, and the complicated valves of the six gasoline tanks. Every now and then, he relieved Balchen at the wheel or helped him to follow the elusive trail. 8 McKinley had his mapping camera ready for action either on port or starboard side. It was for him and the camera he so sedulously served that the flight was made. The mapping of the corridor between Little America and the South Pole was one of the major objectives of the expedition. 9 Balchen was forward, bulking large in the narrow compartment, his massive hands on the wheel, now appraising the engines with a critical eye, now the dozen flickering fingers on the dials on the instrument board. Balchen was in his element. His calm, fine face bespoke his confidence and sureness. He was anticipating the struggle at the "Hump" almost with eagerness. 10 It was quite warm forward, behind the engines. But a cold wind swept through the cabin, making one thankful for heavy clothes. When the skies cleared, a golden light poured into the cabin. The sound of the engines and propellers filled it. One had to shout to make oneself heard. From the navigation table aft, where my charts were spread out, a trolley ran to the control cabin. Over it, I shouted to Balchen the necessary messages and courses; he would turn and smile his understanding. 11 That, briefly, is the picture, and a startling one it makes in contrast with that of Amundsen's party, which had pressed along this same course eighteen years before. A wing, pistons and flashing propellers had taken the place of runner, dogs, and legs. Amundsen was delighted to make 25 miles per day. We had to average 90 miles per hour to accomplish our mission. We had the advantages of swiftness and comfort, but we had as well an enlarged fallibility. A flaw in a piece of steel, a bit of dirt in the fuel lines or carburetor jets, a few hours of strong head winds, fog or storm-- these things, remotely beyond our control, could destroy our carefully laid plans and nullify our most determined efforts. 12 Still, it was not these things that entered our minds. Rather, it was the thought of the "Hump," and how we should fare with it. 13 Soon after passing the crevasses, we picked up again the vast escarpment to the right. More clearly than before, we saw the white-blue streams of many glaciers discharging into the Barrier, and several of the higher snow-clad peaks glistened so brightly in the sun as to seem like volcanoes in eruption. 14 Now the Queen Maud Range loomed ahead. I searched again for the "appearance of land" to the east. Still the rolling Barrier--nothing else. 15 At 8:15, we had the Geological Party in sight--a cluster of beetles about two dark-topped tents. Balchen dropped overboard the photographs of the Queen Maud Range and the other things we had promised to bring. The parachute canopy to which they were attached fluttered open and fell in gentle oscillations, and we saw two or three figures rush out to catch it. We waved to them and then prepared for settlement of the issue at the "Hump." 16 Up to this time, the engines had operated continuously at cruising revolutions. Now Balchen opened them full throttle, and the Ford girded its loins for the long, fighting pull over the "Hump." We rose steadily. We were then about 60 miles north of the western portal of Axel Heiberg, and holding our course steadily on meridian 163° 45' W. with the sun compass. 17 I watched the altimeters, of which there were two in the navigation department. The fingers marched with little jumps across the face of the dial--3,000 feet; 3,500; 4,000; 4,500. The Ford had her toes in and was climbing with a vast, heaving effort. 18 Drawing nearer, we had edged 30° to the west of south, to bring not only Axel Heiberg but also Liv Glacier into view. This was a critical period. I was by no means certain which glacier I should choose for the ascent. I went forward and took a position behind the pilots. 19 The schemes and hopes of the next few minutes were beset by many uncertainties. Which would it be--Axel Heiberg or Liv Glacier? 20 There was this significant difference between flying and sledging: we could not pause long for decision or investigation. Minutes stood for gasoline, and gasoline was precious. The waste of so little as half an hour of fuel in a fruitless experiment might well overturn the mathematical balance on which the success of the flight depended. The execution of the plan hung on the proper choice of the route over the "Hump." 21 Yet how well, after all, could judgment forecast the ultimate result? There were few facts on which we might base a decision. We knew, for example, from Amundsen's report that the highest point of the pass of Axel Heiberg Glacier was 10,500 feet. We should know, in a very few minutes, after June had calculated the gasoline consumption, the weight of the plane. From that we could determine, according to the tables we had worked out and which were then before me, the approximate ceiling we should have. We should know, too, whether or not we should be able to complete the flight, other conditions being favorable. 22 These were the known elements. The unknown were burdened with equally important consequences. The structural nature of the head of the pass was of prime importance. We knew from Amundsen's descriptions and from what we could see with our own eyes, that the pass on both sides was surrounded by towering peaks, much higher than the maximum ceiling of the heavily loaded plane. But whether the pass was wide or narrow, whether it would allow us room to maneuver in case we could not rise above it, whether it would be narrow and running with a torrent of down-pressing wind which would dash a plane, already hovering near its service ceiling to the glacier floor--these were things, naturally, we could not possibly know until the issue was directly at hand. 23 I stood beside Balchen, carefully studying the looming fortress, still wondering by what means we should attempt to carry it. With a gesture of the hand, Balchen pointed to fog vapor rising from the black rock of the foothills which were Nansen's high priests, caused no doubt by the condensation of warm currents of air radiated from the sun-heated rocks. A thin layer of cloud seemed to cap Axel Heiberg's pass and extended almost to Liv Glacier. But of this we were not certain. Perhaps it was the surface of the snow. If it were a cloud, then our difficulties were already upon us. Even high clouds would be resting on the floor of the uplifted plateau. 24 There was then a gamble in the decision. Doubtless a flip of the coin would have served as well. In the end, we decided to choose Liv Glacier, the unknown pass to the right which Amundsen had seen far in the distance and named after Dr. Nansen's daughter. It seemed to be broader than Axel Heiberg, and the pass not quite so high. 25 A few minutes after 9 o'clock, we passed near the intermediate base which, of course, we could not see. Our altitude was then about 9,000 feet. At 9:15, we had the eastern portal on our left and were ready to tackle the "Hump." We had discussed the "Hump" so often, had anticipated and maligned it so much, that now that it was in front of us and waiting in the flesh--in rock-ribbed, glacierized reality--it was like meeting an old acquaintance. But we approached it warily and respectfully, climbing steadily all the while with maximum power, to get a better view of its none-too-friendly visage. 26 June, wholly unaffected by the immediate perplexities, went about his job of getting the plane fighting trim, less heavy. He ripped open the last of the fuel cans and poured the contents into the main tank. The empty tins he dropped overboard, through the trapdoor. Every tin weighed two pounds, and every pound dropped was to our gain. June examined the gauges of the five wing tanks, then measured with a graduated stick the amount of fuel in the main tank. He jotted the figures on a pad, made a few calculations, and handed me the results. Consumption had thus far averaged between 55 and 60 gallons per hour. It had taken us longer to reach the mountains than we had expected, owing to head winds. However, the extra fuel taken aboard just before we left had absorbed this loss, and we actually had a credit balance. We then had enough gasoline to take us to the Pole and back. 27 With that doubt disposed of, we went at the "Hump" confidently. 28 We were still rising, and the engines were pulling wonderfully well. The wind was about abeam and, according to my calculations, not materially affecting the speed. 29 The glacier floor rose sharply, in a series of ice falls and terraces, some of which were well above the (then) altitude of the plane. These glacial waterfalls, some of which were from 200 to 400 feet high, seemed more beautiful than any precipitous stream I have ever seen. Beautiful yes--but how rudely and with what finality they would deal with steel and duralumin that crashed into them at 100 miles per hour. 30 Now the stream of air pouring down the pass roughened perceptibly. The great wing shivered and teetered as it balanced itself against the changing pressures. The wind from the left flowed against Fisher's steep flanks, and the constant, hammering bumps made footing uncertain in the plane. But McKinley steadily trained his 50-pound camera on the mountains to the left. The uncertainties of load and ceiling were not his concern. His only concern was photographs--photographs over which students and geographers pore in the calm quiet of their studies. 31 The altimeters showed a height of 9,600 feet, but the figure was not necessarily exact. Nevertheless, there were indications we were near the service ceiling of the plane. 32 The roughness of the air increased and became so violent that we were forced to swing slightly to the left, in search of calmer air. This brought us over a frightfully crevassed slope which ran up and toward Mount Nansen. We thus escaped the turbulent swirl about Fisher, but the down-surging currents here damped our climb. To the left, we had the "blind" mountain glacier of Nansen in full view; and when we looked ahead we saw the plateau--a smooth, level plain of snow between Nansen and Fisher. The pass rose up to meet it. 33 In the center of the pass was a massive outcropping of snow-covered rocks, resembling an island, which protruded above and separated the descending stream of ice. Perhaps it was a peak or the highest eminence of a ridge connecting Fisher and Nansen which had managed through the ages to hold its head above the glacial torrent pouring down from the plateau. But its particular structure or relationship was of small import then. I watched it only with reference to the climb of the plane; and realized, with some disgust and more consternation, that the nose of the plane, in spite of the fact that Balchen had steepened the angle of attack, did not rise materially above the outcropping. We were still climbing, but at a rapidly diminishing rate of speed. In the rarefied air, the heavy plane responded to the controls with marked sluggishness. There is a vast difference between the plane of 1928 and the plane of 1937. 34 It was an awesome thing, creeping (so it seemed) through the narrow pass, with the black walls of Nansen and Fisher on either side, higher than the level of the wings, and watching the nose of the ship bob up and down across the face of that chunk of rock. It would move up, then slide down. Then move up, and fall off again. For perhaps a minute or two, we deferred the decision, but there was no escaping it. If we were to risk a passage through the pass, we needed greater maneuverability than we had at that moment. Once we entered the pass, there would be no retreat. It offered no room for turn. If power was lost momentarily or if the air became excessively rough, we could only go ahead or down. We had to climb, and there was only one way in which we could climb. 35 June, anticipating the command, already had his hand on the dump valve of the main tank. A pressure of the fingers--that was all that was necessary--and in two minutes, 600 gallons of gasoline would gush out. I signaled to wait. 36 Balchen held to the climb almost to the edge of a stall. But it was clear to both of us that he could not hold it long enough. Balchen began to yell and gesticulate, and it was hard to catch the words in the roar of the engines echoing from the cliffs on either side. But the meaning was manifest. "Overboard--overboard--200 pounds!" 37 Which would it be--gasoline or food? 38 If gasoline, I thought, we might as well stop there and turn back. We could never get back to the base from the Pole. If food, the lives of all of us would be jeopardized in the event of a forced landing. Was that fair to McKinley, Balchen, and June? It really took only a moment to reach the decision. The Pole, after all, was our objective. I knew the character of the three men. McKinley, in fact, had already hauled one of the food bags to the trapdoor. It weighed 125 pounds. 39 The brown bag was pushed out and fell, spinning, to the glacier. The improvement in the flying qualities of the plane was noticeable. It took another breath and resumed the climb. 40 Now the down-currents over Nansen became stronger. The plane trembled and rose and fell, as if struck bodily. We veered a trifle to the right, searching for helpful, rising eddies. Balchen was flying shrewdly. He maintained flight at a sufficient distance below the absolute ceiling of the plane to retain at all times enough maneuverability to make him master of the ship. But he was hard pressed by circumstances, and I realized that, unless the plane was further lightened, the final thrust might bring us perilously close to the end of our reserve. 41 "More," Bernt shouted. "Another bag." 42 McKinley shoved a second bag through the trapdoor, and this time we saw it hit the glacier, and scatter in a soundless explosion. Two hundred and fifty pounds of food--enough to feed four men for a month--lay strewn on the barren ice. 43 The sacrifice swung the scales. The plane literally rose with a jump, the engines dug in, and we soon showed a gain in altitude of anywhere from 300 to 400 feet. It was what we wanted. We should clear the pass with about 500 feet to spare. Balchen gave a shout of joy. It was just as well. We could dump no more food. There was nothing left to dump except McKinley's camera. I am sure that, had he been asked to put it overboard, he would have done so instantly; and I am equally sure he would have followed the precious instrument with his own body. 44 The next few minutes dragged. We moved at a speed of 77 nautical miles per hour through the pass, with the black walls of Nansen on our left. The wing gradually lifted above them. The floor of the plateau stretched in a white immensity to the south. We were over the dreaded "Hump" at last. The Pole lay dead ahead over the horizon, less than 300 miles away. It was then about 9:45 o'clock (I did not note the exact time. There were other things to think about). 45 Gaining the plateau, we studied the situation a moment and then shifted course to the southward. Nansen's enormous towering ridge, lipped by the plateau, shoved its heavily broken sides into the sky. A whole chain of mountains began to parade across the eastern horizon. How high they are I cannot say, but surely some of them must be around 14,000 feet, to stand so boldly above the rim of the 10,000 foot plateau. Peak on peak, ridge on ridge, draped in snow garments which brilliantly reflected the sun, they extended in a solid array to the southeast. But can one really say they ran in that direction? The lines of direction are so bent in this region that 150 miles farther on, even were they to continue in the same general straight line, they must run north of east. This is what happens near the Pole. 46 We laid our line of flight on the 171st meridian. 47 Our altitude was then between 10,500 and 11,000 feet. We were "riding" the engines, conscious of the fact that if one should fail we must come down. Once the starboard engine did sputter a bit, and Balchen nosed down while June rushed to the fuel valves. But it was nothing; to conserve fuel, Balchen had "leaned" the mixture too much. A quick adjustment corrected the fault; and, in a moment, the engine took up its steady rhythm. Moments like this one make a pioneering flight anything but dull; one moment everything is lovely, and the next is full of foreboding. 48 From time to time, June "spelled" Balchen at the controls, and Balchen would walk back to the cabin, flexing his cramped muscles. There was little thought of food for any of us--a beef sandwich, stiff as a board from frost, and tea and coffee from a thermos bottle. It was difficult to believe that two decades or so before the most resolute men who had ever attempted to carry a remote objective, Scott and Shackleton, had plodded over this same plateau, a few miles each day, with hunger, fierce, unrelenting hunger, stalking them every step of the way. 49 Between 11:30 and 12:30, the mountains to the eastward began to disappear, dropping imperceptibly out of view, one after another. Not long after 12:30, the whole range had retreated from vision, and the plateau met the horizon in an indefinite line. The mountains to the right had long since disappeared. 50 The air finally turned smooth. At 12:38, I shot the sun. It hung, a ball of fire, just beyond south to the east, 21° above the horizon. So it was quite low, and we stared it in the eye. The sight gave me an approximate line of latitude, which placed us very near our position as calculated by dead reckoning. That dead reckoning and astronomy should check so closely was very encouraging. The position line placed us at Lat. 89° 4 ½' S., or 55 ½ miles from the Pole. A short time later, we reached an altitude of 11,000 feet. According to Amundsen's records, the plateau, which had risen to 10,300 feet, descended here to 9,600 feet. We were, therefore, about 1,400 feet above the plateau. 51 So the Pole was actually in sight. But I could not yet spare it so much as a glance. Chronometers, drift indicators, and compasses are hard taskmasters. 52 Relieved by June, Balchen came aft and reported that visibility was not as good as it had been. Clouds were gathering on the horizon off the port bow, and a storm, Balchen thought, was in the air. A storm was the last thing we wanted to meet on the plateau on the way back. It would be difficult enough to pass the Queen Maud Range in bright sunlight; in thick weather, it would be suicidal. Conditions, however, were merely unpromising: not really bad, simply not good. If worse came to worst, we decided we could out-race the clouds to the mountains. 53 At six minutes after one, a sight of the sun put us a few miles ahead of our dead reckoning position. We were quite close now. At 1:14 Greenwich mean time, our calculations showed that we were at the Pole. 54 I opened the trapdoor and dropped over the calculated position of the Pole the small flag which was weighted with the stone from Bennett's grave. Stone and flag plunged down together. The flag had been advanced 1,500 miles farther south than it had ever been advanced by any American or American expedition. 55 For a few seconds, we stood over the spot where Amundsen had stood, December 14th, 1911, and where Scott had also stood, thirty-four days later, reading the note which Amundsen had left for him. In their honor, the flags of their countries were again carried over the Pole. There was nothing now to mark that scene: only a white desolation and solitude disturbed by the sound of our engines. The Pole lay in the center of a limitless plain. To the right, which is to say to the eastward, the horizon was covered with clouds. If mountains lay there, as some geologists believe, they were concealed, and we had no hint of them. 56 And that, in brief, is all there is to tell about the South Pole. One gets there, and that is about all there is for the telling. It is the effort to get there that counts. * * * * Sunday, Dec. 1 57 . . . Well, it's done. We have seen the Pole. McKinley, Balchen, and June have delivered the goods. They took the Pole in their stride, neatly, expeditiously, and undismayedly. If I had searched the world, I doubt if I could have found a better team. Theirs was the actual doing. But there is not a man in this camp who did not assist in the preparation for the flight. Whatever merit accrues to the accomplishment must be shared with them. more

He spent the first nine years of his confinement in a single stay of the basement (not until 1993 his father organized other spaces). Children born at that time witnessed continuing violations. Fritzlar kept handcuffed the first two days of captivity, and during the six or nine months remained tied. Police ruled that Josef Fritzlar had abused their children. 7. Background. Fritzlar was jailed for 18 months in 1967 for sexually abusing a young woman in Linz (Austria). He was also subsequently arrested for attempted rape and exhibitionism. In addition, the Police is investigating its connection with the murder, still unsolved, a woman, Martina Posch, 22 years ago. B 8. Search. When Elisabeth was locked up in 1984 his mother reported his disappearance, but, being older, the police thought that he had left home on his own will and no longer look it up. In fact, Elisabeth was locked up by his father after returning to his home after an initial escape attempt. 9. Babies. The three children who lived with Josef and Rosemarie were left on the door of the house shortly after birth (in 1993, 1994 and 1997). They were legally adopted by his grandparents. C 10. Carter. Fritzlar forced his daughter to write letters to keep the secret safe, especially any suspicions of Rosemarie. In the first, 1984, Elisabeth said she was going home and who did not seek. The three children who were appearing at the door of the house later iban accompanied by letters from Elisabeth in which ensured that he could not take care of them. 11. Wedge. Christine R., sister-in-law of Fritzlar and sister Rosemarie, says he always humbled his sister and mistreated their children. It also noted that Josef fell to the basement every morning, "supposedly to draw maps of some machines that wanted to sell." "Sometimes spent all night there. Now you know why," he added. 12. Dungeon. The dungeon built in the basement of his home by Fritzlar has about 80 square meters, and stretched under the garden of the house. It is accessed through a sliding door concrete than 300 kilos of weight, hidden behind a bookcase. There was a staircase entrance, a laundry room, two bedrooms, 3 square metres and a small kitchen next to a bathroom. Some parts of zulo had no more than 1.70 meters high. Ventilation came from a tube. 13. Code. The door of the basement could only be opened using a secret code known only by Fritzlar. The code shareholders an engine electronically. Fritzlar had activated a mechanism so that the door is opened only if he disappeared. 14. Construction. Fritzlar planned and built the dungeon one year before locking her daughter there, and after seeking permission to reform the building. The plans were approved, but did not include rooms in the basement. 15. Food. Josef was responsible for supplying food and clothing to locked. When was travelling left them food reserve. 16. CIEN. Police intended to interrogate hundred people who went through the house during these 24 years (Fritzlar rented rooms at the top). The investigation could go on for at least two months. Researchers can only work in the zulo followed for half an hour due to lack of oxygen. 17. Damn. Fritzlar, in custody, faces a possible sentence of at least 15 years in prison if found guilty of the charge of rape, the most serious of his alleged crimes, according to Austrian law. 18. Complications. The evidence analyzed so far ruled that no family member acting as an accomplice. Although the police insisted that Fritzlar acted alone, the head of the investigation stated that "someone in the family should know something." In this regard, the German magazine Brigitte said that one of the children living in the upper house had a copy of the key that gave the basement. Dubanovsky Alfred, a man who was 12 years renting a room in the house of Fritzlar, said that he saw another man fell next to his home in the basement. He added that this man was a plumber, and it drew attention because he was trying to enter prohibited in that part of the house. D 19. Drugs. Fritzlar told police he had locked her daughter to "protect and keep away from drugs". 20. Damage. Encerrado without natural light and isolated from the world throughout his life, the children of Fritzlar have developed various phobias and fears. They feel panic before the blue tones of mobile phones, traffic in the city ... In addition, they speak with gruñidos (communicate among themselves with a language itself) and prefer to crawl. The small, five-year, is "joyful and vital", and was fascinated to sit for the first time in a car. The two biggest need at least eight years of therapy. Experts have advised that for the moment, live in a house without windows. The three, like her mother, have skin problems. Kristen has lost almost all their teeth. 21. Fainting. Kristen was transferred to hospital after suffering a fainting, a result of illness endured. According to some sources, his condition is typical of the evils that can lead to having children at an incestuous relationship. Other media point to an infection. E 22. Ageing. Elisabeth looks 20 years over which it has. It has very white hair and skin almost transparent due to lack of sunlight. F 23. Pictures. Despite that have been disclosed both photographs of Josef Fritzlar as Elisabeth, the Austrian authorities have warned that any media to publish pictures or intimate details of the victims could be fined up to 20,000 euros. The authorities are studying the possibility of changing the name to protect the victims. G 24. GAS. Police investigating whether Fritzlar built a device to the zulo be filled gas in the event that something will happen to him. Threats to the gas locked in the dungeon if they tried to break free, which could partly explain why Elisabeth would not have never tried to attack you. H 25. Daughter. Elisabeth took their seven children in the course of 14 years. The conditions under which took place deliveries are still being investigated. The first, Kristen, was born in 1988, and Stephan was born in 1990. Lisa and Monika 'appeared' on the door of the house when they were nine and ten months old. In 1996 twins were born. One of them died within three days and the other, Alexander, 'appeared' also 15 months later at the door of the home. The last, Felix, was born in 2003. According to police, Fritzlar chose the children who took on his health status and its "inclination to mourn." I 26. Incineration. According said Elisabeth, the sister of the dead body was cremated by Josef in the garden. 27. Social impact. The case of Josef Fritzlar has shocked both the town of Amstetten, besieged these days by hundreds of journalists, as the entire Austrian society, especially when it happened barely two years after it was known the case of Natascha Kampusch, the young man who was kidnapped near Vienna for eight years. Some local media also have questioned one type of society in which there may be cases like this one: "Everything should be ashamed Amstetten.'s Neighbors closed their eyes" (Österreich), "The entire community must ask itself what is happening" (Der Standard). Some 200 people gathered in the main square of Amstetten carrying candles to express their "anger" and "deep sorrow" for what happened. "Every day spent in front of the house; should have done something," said one of the assistants. 28. Ignorance. Elisabeth has exculpado his mother from captivity and abuse he suffered, making sure that she knew nothing. "He never had anything to do," he said. J 29. JUDGE. "All the procedures were tough, the pieces were consistent," said Josef Schluegl judge, who granted in their day-to Fritzlar custody of a child, not knowing that it was actually his son, after reading a letter in which Elisabeth asked their parents to take care of small and not try to look it up. "Impossible to imagine that he was kidnapped and forced him to write," he added. K 30. KAMPUSCH, Natascha. The young Austrian 20-year-old Natascha Kampusch, who reappeared in 2006 after spending eight years sequestered, announced the donation of 25,000 euros for victims of Fritzlar. He also made an international appeal to raise money for the family. L 31. Lynchings. Fritzlar has been isolated in prison Sankt Polten before the danger that other prisoners might lynched. "The murderers and rapists of minors are seen as the lowest scale and deplorable, so often suffer attacks extremes," said Günter Mörwald, director of the prison. M 32. Monster. Most of the Spanish press has dubbed Josef Fritzlar as "The Monster of Amstetten." The French daily Le Figaro spoke of "the father of darkness". 33. May, RUDOLPH. It's lawyer Fritzlar. Counsel famous in Austria, Der Spiegel assured that their work is "to show Josef Fritzlar as a human being" after being presented as "a horrible monster and a tyrant sex." "When I saw him for the first time I seemed like a patriarch with good and bad sides, broken, very emotionally affected," he said. N 34. Nazis. The clinic where he recovered Elisabeth and their children, in the town of Mauer, also has its own dark past. During World War II, hundreds of people died here victims of euthanasia practices carried out by the Nazis between 1941 and 1944. Or 35. Other cases. We discovered in Amstetten has brought to mind other similar events, apart from the mentioned Natascha Kampusch. Gouardo Lydia, a French 45 year said they had been raped and tortured for 28 years by his father, with whom she had six children between 1982 and 1993, has shown its desire to meet Elisabeth. Moreover, the Austrian police reopen the case of 64 missing children in the country, five of which are missing from their homes for more than 10 years. P 36. Posch, Martin. He was murdered 22 years ago, when he was 17. His body was found in Lake Mondsee and so far the case has not yet been resolved. Fritzlar's wife then had a restaurant on the banks of the lake, not far from Amstetten. 37. Properties. Fritzlar enjoyed a comfortable financial position. He was registered as sole owner of six real estate, spread over several localities of Lower Austria. The list includes the family home, three buildings with many apartments and commercial premises, another house and a plot, with an estimated value of about 2.2 million. In one of these solar acquired by Fritzlar just three years ago, had moved tens of cubic meters of earth. 38. Imprisonment. In prison Sankt Polten, Fritzlar occupies a cell with a small window by which natural light enters, overlooking a garden. It has radio and television and can go for a walk once a day. 39. Profile. Joseph Fritzlar, 74-year-old retired electrician, has been described by police as a "very intelligent". His neighbors considered him a figure respectable within the community. His sister-in-law, however, he now qualifies for "despot". His neighbours claim that always tried to appear tan, flirting with women and that drew attention for the way he had exaggerated care of your garden. Others noted that ruled his home "as a lieutenant general," and that it was very jealous of their privacy. A former co-worker noted that "was always well dressed, as a diplomat." It belonged to the club's fishing Amstetten. Q 40. Complaint. Some of the tenants of Fritzlar complained that often disappeared as the refrigerator of the house. One of them said not understand because Fritzlar "seemed to enjoy a good economic situation." R 41. Reunification. Each child of Elisabeth (except Kristen, who remained hospitalized) and her mother met for the first time last April 27, at the clinic where they are receiving treatment. The centre's director described as "astonishing" and "exciting" the "ease with which came together", both boys among themselves, as with his mother Elisabeth. Rosemarie told her daughter that it felt and that he had no "no idea". S 42. Suicide. In prison, Fritzlar remains under surveillance 24 hours to avoid dealing with kill himself. 43. Sect. Fritzlar maintained all these years version of her daughter Elisabeth had been picked up by a sect, which obliged him to get rid of their children. The Chief of Police of Lower Austria noted that "this man did not leave any place without tying in order to deceive his family, his wife, their relatives, children and the world around him." T 44. Thailand. The German tabloid newspaper Bild Zeitung reported in a video that appears Fritzlar during a holiday in Thailand. It was recorded by a German friend who traveled with the Asian country. In the video you can see how Fritzlar, swimwear, receives a massage from a woman on the beach. In another scene, is preparing to eat a piece of meat and it looks very good mood. 45. Tourism. The Austrian authorities have shown their concern about the effect of tourism in cases like that of Fritzlar or Kampusch. Franz Grossglockner, head of the department of Tourism of Austria, told the AP agency: "Who will want to visit this country? For every wonderful summit snowfall or every cathedral we also have begun a world war, or choose to admit as xenophobes rulers, rapists and incestuous psychopaths in the headlines ...". U 46. Usurpation of staff. In at least one occasion, Fritzlar was going through his daughter Elisabeth to announce by telephone that his wife had left one of the babies at the door of the house. V 47. Summer. Fritzlar had planned to end the confinement this summer, according to British newspaper Daily Mail. Apparently, "no longer endure" his daughter, and was "tired of his dual life" and therefore had decided to return to Elisabeth of the alleged sect which allegedly had ido 24 years ago. W 48. WEB. Resolved Question: READ me plz! its easy plz! dont be chicken?

okay lets see whos not afraid to read this. most of you guys are wimps though. afraid of a good story huh? lol plz read! Blood Feather I remember…wind licking at our faces, the Californian sun shining intensely. I was just 10 years old… it was on this day my happy life came to an abrupt halt. My dad, Peter, suggested that we should go to the beach, together. My mother and I were playing in the sand, as she built a sandcastle we would sit and watch the water eat it away. We glanced down the beach; the sun seemed to be painting a picture for our eyes to feast on. “Dolphin! Dolphin!” We gazed up to see my little brother Charlie splashing in the waves. My mother managed a frown and raised an eyebrow. My mother ran over gracefully, but quickly, and snatched him up out of the water. Looking disappointed Charlie glanced over at dad. “What’s the matter?” He said lowering his sun glasses. “I saw a dolphin!” “It wasn’t a dolphin, Peter,” mother said in a matter-of-fact tone. “Honey,” he said getting up from his seat “why don’t you let him dream a little?” Father’s hair swirled about him madly, looking like a chocolate colored tumble weed. He strided over to Charles and put him easily back in the water. Charlie continued his pursuit toward a hermit crab, going farther out. “There see?” father said. And upon saying this he gazed up at Charles, his eyes shining. Then he noticed a shadow, moving about menacingly a few feet from Charles. Instinctively father dove into the water, picked Charles up, and hurled him toward the shore. The shadow sped vigorously toward father. And in less than a second something had him. The aqua water was suddenly a dark crimson where father was standing. Swimming in a panicky fashion, he tried to head to shore. My mother could do nothing but sit at the waters edge and watch in despair. “Hurry!” She yelled angrily at him. Father was weak from swimming, “He’s got me now,” he said exhaustedly still panicking. “No please don’t leave me!” mother shouted. Her eyes were brimming over with tears and she stared at him intensely, lovingly. Father’s face grew hard and reddened; as he looked at her he inhaled and punched the shark’s nose with all his strength. The shark sped away, there were others, but for now the coast was clear. His eyes grew tired and he fainted, head slamming against the water as he fell. Mother ran to him and dragged him on shore. The sand was now crimson as well; some coral must have scraped his back on the way in. My brother and I stared at our bloody mess of a Father, too young to understand. Knowing what mother would want of me, I convinced my brother to go shell hunting with me. Mother threw a thanking glance in my direction. I nodded my head and went on. I stopped at a nearby pile of shells, letting my brother sift through them. He seemed worried but didn’t speak. I looked back and an ambulance was parked on the sand. They put father on the stretcher and zoomed away. Mother gently picked up his sunglasses and placed them on her head. She stroked Charles’s bleach blonde hair and picked him up. She cradled him and I watched in amazement as he drifted to sleep. She looked up at me, her soft golden hair resting on her shoulders. “Is father okay?” I asked in a low voice. “I – I don’t know.” She said in a whisper, trying to fight tears. Mother coolly walked to where our car was parked. A cute little yellow Pontiac, which reminded me of a big banana. She placed Charles in the backseat, looking at him thoughtfully. I stared out the window at palm trees flying past us. I stared blankly at the road and calmly asked where we were going. “Home for now.” “What about father?” “The paramedic team said that the hospital would call when he’s ready to come home.” “I don’t want to visit; it may be too much on Charles.” Mother focused her rear view mirror toward Charles. He sighed and was holding his arm in a strange position. “Mother,” I said pausing to turn toward her “I think his arm is hurt.” “No. He’s fine. He’s probably in the “sucking the thumb” position.” This was a good excuse since he was only four. Her cell phone started ringing franticly, it startled my brother. Mother slowly lifted it up to answer. “Hello?” she said shakily. “Oh really, already?” “Okay then we’ll be there shortly” she gulped after she answered the phone and said nothing about what they had told her. Rain started pouring down on us as we drove steadily to the hospital making the mood even more depressing. A tall coral shaped white building appeared from the haze as we moved closer. We parked the car near the front. As the engine died mother warned us not to stare and not to be scared she tried to smile encouragingly but it didn’t work that well. I opened the door and stuck my foot out I realized the parking lot was flooded with at least ten inches of water. My legs were short and the water swallowed my foot and touched the top of my shorts. Mother scooped Charles up and we proceeded to the front door. We had no umbrella, and so as we stepped inside the huge sliding doors people stared. I looked up at mother. The rain hadn’t affected her height but her hair was a brunet color and seemed to be covered with hairspray, not flowing about anymore. She didn’t look at the people who stared, but gracefully walked to the elevator. I struggled to keep up. Mother punched in some buttons and up we went my, stomach descending farther down. Then the elevator stopped with a jerk and we stepped out. My stomach was protesting but I moved forward. The halls were long and had many doors on either side. Some pictures that looked like they belonged in a beach hotel lined the walls. Mother stopped and knocked on one of the doors peering into a high window. A nurse opened the door and beckoned us in. Father lay there, eyes closed, unmoving. A white blanket covered him to his waist. He looked fine. The nurse was telling mother about his surgery and how well he was doing. Then tears started rolling down her tan face and we left. In the car mother gained some of her strength again and sniffing she said, “Father…may be a little different from now on,” she paused to stick the key in the ignition. From the back seat Charles squirmed and sat up. “What do you mean?” he asked with sleepy eyes. Mother sighed and preceded, “His leg. His leg is gone.” The car was silent, and we drove home. I must have fallen asleep, I felt mother take me in her arms moving gingerly and sit me down on the bed. My eyes opened and I saw her sitting with me. “Are you awake Grace?” she asked not looking at me. “Yeah,” I said not actually sure of what I had said. “Father won’t be home for a while.” “Where is he? Is he okay?” I asked anxiously. “Shhh!” She quietly tucked me in again. I woke to the sound of yelling. It was coming from mother and father’s room. “This is all your fault!” she rambled on. She must have been on the phone with dad. “Charles… he could’ve been killed!” she sighed heavily and plopped down on the bed. I was quite surprised Charles didn’t get up and poke his head out of his bedroom door. I got up and opened my door slowly, inch by inch. As it squealed in protest I squinted my eyes, hoping it wasn’t too loud. Once it was open I carefully walked down the hall. Our family pictures stared at me and my bare feet made sticky noises on our wooden floors as I passed them. A faint light coming from the door made a line going up the pale yellow wall. I peered through the crack of the door. Mother was sitting on the bed and some light was coming from the window. She was sobbing. I decided I would give her some time alone, so I went back to bed. * * * I woke up, what seemed like, seven years later. Those years rushed past me… only hazy nightmares I couldn’t see. I was now seventeen and had finally gotten a decent car to drive to school. It was a robin’s eggshell blue Volkswagen convertible. Dad moved to California and mom, Charles, and I moved to Chicago. I missed the sunny days of my past life, but in Chicago that couldn’t be helped. It was always cloudy there. Mom had driven us away immediately after the night at our house and into the clouds of Chicago Illinois. My new school was an old school, what was left of it anyways. It was just a big boring brick building. I doubted my looks would help me get any friends. I was tall, sort of, and blonde. My skin was tan, thanks to the sun, I was super skinny too. I looked like a living rail. My first day was horrid. People made fun of my arms, which were skinny too. I rolled my eyes at them when I heard them talking about me. My last class was band, people stared at me and when Coach Luke, the teacher, introduced me… it made things even worse. When I stood I almost fell, my knees collapsing under me. I luckily landed in my chair, sighing with relief when I landed. I didn’t pull my flute out and play, but instead read my book, Coach didn’t seem to notice… or mind. I got interested when coach left the room and the girls beside me began to talk. “Oh my gosh did you see how hot he was!” the brunet said beaming. “Whatever. You’re so obsessed with him, he’s new. Give him a break.” The strawberry blonde rolled her eyes and looked at the clock on the wall. “Have you noticed what a cute couple they make?” the brunet ignored the other’s comment. I heard someone giggling at the back of the room. I laid my book on the ground and turned to see who it was. A muscular boy was hugging this girl. I stared at him; my heart skipped beats and fell to the bottom of nowhere. He was tall and pale, his lips reminded me of the crimson color of a rose. His skin along with his lips looked like the same texture of a flowers petal, soft, delicate, and fragile. The girl was a medium height and had dirty blonde hair that was very long. She too, was pale. He paused hugging her a minute to glance up, his eyes met mine, and he looked intently at me scanning me all over. He looked away, though, as soon as he got the chance. They looked at the door with a concerned expression and quickly but gracefully found their seats. Their movements blew my mind. I was sure if a deer was in the room it wouldn’t have noticed their movement. He was beaming straight ahead, at nothing in particular, and his perfect white smile seemed to bore a hole through me. I looked away so I wouldn’t go blind by his radiance. The brunet nudged me in the shoulder. “He’s looking at you.” She said through her teeth. I was petrified; sure his smile would bore through me this time. Coach walked through the door and looked down at his wrist watch. “Five, four, three two…” he counted down. The loud bell coming from a speaker on the wall startled me and I jumped. I could hear him laughing at me. I ignored it. “Bye! See you tomorrow!” Coach boomed across the room. Coach was buff, I was sure he must’ve been a football player. I turned around to look for him but he and the girl were gone, in fact, every one was gone. How long had I been just sitting there listening to his silk like husky laughter flow over me? I hopped up and headed to the parking lot. My mind went blank as I thought of him. I found myself sitting there staring out the windshield of my convertible. I put the key in the ignition and the purr of the diesel motor awakened me. The sky was cloudy and set numbers of grey shadows onto the front of our house. Our house was only a one story, which was convenient enough. It was Californian style with a terracotta roof and tan stucco textured paint. There were some small palm trees in the flower bed. It didn’t remind me of California, only because it was too cloudy. I parked my bug in our curved driveway and stepped out. Mom, who of course wasn’t home yet, was busied with the chore of picking Charles up from school. I walked inside, sat my keys on the table, and picked up a snack. I turned on the TV and nearly tripped over the coffee table when I saw the commercial, my snack went flying of course. It was an advertisement for pools, but that didn’t matter, it was the fact the guy who was modeling for it looked exactly like him. My heart skipped beats, but then I thought of that girl he was hugging. “If he already has a girlfriend why was he staring at me?” I thought aloud. “Oh well, who needs a stupid boyfriend anyway.” I was still obsessed with him, no matter how hard I tried to resist… I failed. There was just something about him. I heard some bumping noises and looked over to see mother and Charles walking in the door. I was sprawled out all over the floor, an obvious scene for an accident. She gathered the evidence I might be hurt and rushed over to help. “What happened?” she sounded shocked. “Ummm… I tripped.” I fibbed quickly, leaving out the part about the commercial, it sounded convincing enough. “Well honey, you are seventeen, I expected I could leave you at home alone.” her tone was expecting, disappointed. “No really I.” I was interrupted when Charles broke in. “You should be more careful. I’ve seen a drunk person with better balance.” He said mockingly. I ignored him and got some ice for my leg. I must have landed half on the coffee table half on the carpet. It was nearly ten when I caught myself, again, staring into space… on my bed this time. I clicked off my lamp and tried to sleep. I felt utterly stupid; I just couldn’t resist thinking about him. I tried to remind myself he had a girlfriend, but I couldn’t shake him off. On my way to school the next morning I didn’t seem to think about him much, not until a black car that reminded me of his Porsche Cayman passed by. I smacked my forehead and nearly ran off the road. The car behind me blew their horn. I did finally arrive at school, a little on the irritated side. I didn’t see his Porsche in the parking lot though, and so I hung my head and moped my way to my first class. School passed and he wasn’t there, I found myself thinking of and looking for him. “How did school go today?” Mom asked when I got home later than usual. “Okay.” My mouth said but my mind said not okay. I went to bed with an empty stomach shoving my brother aside as I went. I wasn’t hungry, for food at least, but I was hungry, for him. In the morning I found myself engulfing three pop tarts. On the way to school I veered off the road again, and as the other day, the car behind me honked. I was going crazy. I needed socialization… but with whom could I talk with. No one. I’d left all my friends behind in California. For the first few days, I only needed the memory of him. But today my socialization level was low, and my brain urged me to talk to someone, anyone. Say something. In my English class I exploded to the girl next to me. Mr.Birk shushed me and I, in answer, shushed him. Not a good idea. I was given a note to take to the principle, Mr.Birks pointed to the door and I proceeded, glaring at him as I shut the door. “Grace Whitman to the principal for defiance.” The note said in red ink that infuriated me. I ripped it up instantly and threw it into the large garbage can next to the wall. As I headed to the bathroom I scowled at the boy that watched me rip the note up. I grumbled as I opened the door of the bathroom and proceeded to the next stall. I flipped the lid down and sat, balled up, on the toilet. I contented my mind with reading the graffiti on the walls. The most common verse written on the wall was Philip is mine or I love Philip. The bell rang and I willingly left to go to band. “Stupid, ugly, bald, English teacher.” I thought of Mr.Birks face when I said this to myself. The look of defeat filled the wrinkles on his aged face. I smiled victoriously to this thought and headed to band. “Don’t forget to take your instruments home and practice for the auditions tomorrow.” Coach Luke said as the bell rang. I grabbed an audition paper and my flute as I headed for the door. When I got home I pulled out my flute, to distract my mind from him, and practiced. I wasn’t half bad, I wasn’t sure if I’d win the responsibility of the solo or not, not like I wanted it any way, but I was sure I wouldn’t get embarrassed either. When mom and Charles walked through the door I put my flute away automatically. Aware that Charles would want to play it and break it. He did rush over but I turned to put it away before he could speak. I did eat supper tonight, reminded of the horrible hunger that pained me this morning. We ate in silence and after dinner I went to bed. I couldn’t sleep. So I cut my computer on and closed my door. I was thinking of him again. I got on Google and typed in myspace. I got on the site and reviewed all the pictures until I failed in my search and fell asleep in my chair. When I woke in the morning my neck hurt. I ignored it and looked over at the clock. “Oh!” I realized I was late and rushed out the door. I ran back in seconds later to grab my flute and paper. I pushed the petal to the floor today; I didn’t even have time to veer off the road today, much less time to think of him. I rushed to math, my first class, and as I set foot in the door the bell rang. I hopped into my seat and shortly after a large stately figure appeared before me. It stretched out its hand to tap on my desk and I looked up, gulping. Mrs. Heather, the slim blond sweet faced teacher, waited in front of me. She slipped a tardy pass to me. I dropped my head as I felt the other student’s eyes watching me, and slunk to the office. When I felt that Mrs. Heather had looked away I walked instinctively to the bathroom, again. She wouldn’t know. The other pupils wouldn’t either. Why should I care? Well, whatever. All other classes zoomed past leaving band as the last memorable survivor. I thought of him again, staring off into space. “Next... Ahem…next! Mrs. Whitman?” coach Luke boomed. I looked up sleepily. I stepped forward to play. I wasn’t scared, only because I didn’t know these students. As I sat in the isolated awaiting seat I looked around the room, and then I froze. He stood out from them all. I stopped breathing as his eyes investigating me. I started noticing my hands turning from red to blue. I breathed again when I heard his girlfriend laugh, assuring me time hadn’t stopped. I was trembling. Coach made a signal with his hands, pushing me on. I played. My breath was shuddering like a leaf about to fall. When I finished all the students were staring at me unbelievingly. “You…Congratulations Grace. I believe you earned the solo.” Coach said in a whisper. Everyone’s eyes widened and then, they all smiled and applauded. I blushed faintly pink and then a dark red when he stood. Time stopped again. But then time continued. As he, like the others, applauded. I inhaled, grateful for a break, then ran to put my flute away when the bell rang. When I turned around I nearly screamed. There he stood, towering over me. He put his hand over my mouth, and again I inhaled sighing afterwards. What felt like an hour later he put his hand away, stepping back. “You…You were incredible.” He said with widened hazelnut colored eyes. “Oh…” I couldn’t continue for a moment, paralyzed by his eyes and face, “Really I didn’t mean too be good. I was actually scared.” I said modestly. “Scared? Of what?” he asked, his breath giving me chills. “Oh nothing really.” I said tearing myself from his thoughtful gaze. “Hmmm. Okay.” He said frowning, shattering the perfection of his face. He turned and winked, beaming at me on his way out. I just stood there, on the verge of fainting. I should’ve chased him. But I was too weak. “That was great, Grace.” Coach said, walking over to pat my shoulder. I walked cheerfully to my car. “I made a friend today, a nameless friend.” I thought shakily on the way home. I couldn’t stop smiling, and mom and Charles noticed. “School good today huh?” Mom asked at dinner, smiling. “Uh…yeah I made my first friend.” I said, fumbling on the word friend. “Good.” She said. Charles rolled his eyes. I rolled mine back and hauled off to bed. I fell asleep and woke up smiling. “Stupid boy.” I thought, laughing at my remark. I went to the bathroom staring at myself in the mirror. I didn’t usually put on make up. I had natural beauty mom called it. I hated popular people. They just had to put it on. What ever. When I arrived at school he was in all my classes. Why didn’t I see him yesterday? I shrugged off the thought and went to my next class, Science. The tall, black wiry haired teacher, Mr. James nearly put me to sleep with his lectures. He was staring from the lab table across from mine at me. No one sat next to me on the vacant stool. I imagined him sitting next to me and felt better, completed. I was just too timid to ask him his name. Time flew by when I wasn’t looking at him anyway. On my way home I smiled as I thought of him again. Then frowned to know he was my only friend and I didn’t know his name. When I got home I watched TV sitting impatiently as I waited for that commercial to come on. It never did. Mom didn’t come home the usual time tonight. She was occupied with a meeting that she took Charles to. I laughed to think of how bored Charles would get. Torturing my brother was hilarious, especially if I wasn’t doing it. An hour later when the commercial still hadn’t come on, I wrote a note and put it on the counter. Grabbing a piece of pizza from the fridge on the way. “Dear mom,” the note read, “Gone bike riding. Be home soon, love Grace.” I marched out the door grabbing my keys of the table. I pulled my bike out from under the shed and rode down our street a ways. I took a small dirt path that led to nowhere and thought of him on my way. I pedaled on and on not sure where I turned or went, just kept going and going. I wasn’t sure how far I’d gone when I reached a small stream. I looked at it for a minute, then turned and went home. Mother looked worried and confused when I walked in. But I just marched to my room and went to bed. more

Resolved Question: Does the Eliot Spitzer scandal sound like a set up to anybody else?

I can't turn away from a television, radio, or search engine without being blasted with this Eliot Spitzer bit. I have to say, though I wouldn't pay for sex because that's just not my style, someone being forced to give up the highest position in their state is a little drastic. If you really want to know, when you put it all together, it kind of sounds like two things coming into play. First, the proliferation in this country of this completely subjective topic of morality. Some people might put it as "having a holier-than-thou" attitude. Morality seems to be a lot of different things to a lot of different people and it really should not determine all the things it determines here in the States. Second, does anybody else smell a set up? It just seems like this is all part of somebody's hidden agenda. It seems like this might be a un-named group's way of usurping a position for their own means; be they noble or devious..though you and I know it's usually the latter. Thoughts please...On the subject of how it was funded, I would agree with you all there. As far as the getting a ho bit, we need to stop it in this damn country with this morality topic. Since when did we become judges of who's righteous and who isn't? Who died and made us king? We love judging; Lord have mercy we love judging. We rush over to judge like someone rushing home 'cos their wife promised to cook their favourite food...and f*** 'em too. I just think we need to stop with this morality crap. I tend not to assign myself to any affiliation, but something seems politically fishy. It seems like the state's Republican party was leading the charge like a damn cavalry into Custer's last Stand and what not..just riding the horse and blowing the bugle: "Chhaaaaarrggeeee!"..I don't know; I'm just kind of tunred off by that.but at the same time, think of all the other things your tax money is going to that is unnecessary and downright wrong. One of those things has been happening in another country we weren't invited into in the 1st place for the past 5 years....now you see what i'm saying? more

Resolved Question: Is it possible to find an old car that I once owned?

There was this Mustang that I owned in High School. It was my favorite - but after I graduated and moved out on my own, I needed to put $800 of parts into the engine and couldnt afford the $800. However the dealership that I had taken it to, was more than willing to let me trade off the car and make $200/month payments on a flashy Firebird.. Turned out that the Firebird died after a year, and I never saw my Mustang again. That was 14 years ago. I'd love to find the Mustang and see what shape it's in (if it's not in a scrap heap somewhere). I'm now at the position that I could afford to restore it if I could find it. Resolved Question: Can the turbocharged BMW E23 M30 engine fitted to a right-hand drive version?

I own a 1984 BMW E23 728iA UK-spec which is right hand drive.I want to buy a Euro-spec 745i turbo and convert my 728i into it using almost all of it's parts. The biggest question is the engine.I used to know that a right hand drive 745i South African version has fitted it with the M88 engine taken from the M1.Then the left hand drive European market has the same 3.2L or 3.4L M30 engine fitted with a turbocharger.I wanted to use the turbo one because that engine can be easily tuned to reach very high output. While the only worrying is,from some information i search from the net, they said turbocharged M30 engine from 745i cannot be fitted into the right hand drive version of E23.So South African 745i received the 24-valve M88 engine.Actually earlier time i suspected that engine cannot fit into right hand drive E23 maybe cause by the extra turbo unit on the engine makes it impossible to be installed with it.But a turbo unit position can be customized,so what is the problem? Please help..... more

Resolved Question: Should I consider a new position when promised advancement opportunities aren't manifesting?

I'm a Web Developer for a company within an industry primarily dominated by men. Eventhough I have 6 years experience, eventhough I improved the company's websites which gained more sales leads and higher search engine ranking, eventhough I've created web applications that get the job done... I haven't been given the recognition or advancement opportunities promised to me during the interview process. When it comes to work, I'm competent. I get the job done. Because I am so focused, I don't talk to co-workers alot however I do maintain a pleasent work relationship with them. I don't know if its because I'm a woman or because of may race, but; no matter my success I feel my current position will limit me career wise, in which case I'll except more money to put up with. Resolved Question: Don't you think this raises questions?

The Government's 9/11 Facade is Crumbling Tell A Friend by John Perry http://www.opednews.com First things first: Any time two or more people are knowingly involved in the commission of a crime, there is, by definition, a conspiracy. This is not a theory, folks. It's a stone-cold, undeniable fact. So the real question about 9/11 is not whether there was a conspiracy, but indeed exactly who the conspirators are. It really is this simple: 1) Either 19 guys with box cutters, led by a guy hiding in a cave in Afghanistan, were able to hijack four major airliners, fly them with expert precision (even though flight instructors say they could barely even fly Cessnas), avoid the most sophisticated air defense system in the history of the world and hit three of four targets in New York and Washington, killing nearly 3000 people and thus pulling off history's most spectacular terrorist attack, Or: 2) A rouge criminal element within our own government, with the means, motive and standing to benefit tremendously, both financially and politically, either helped to make it happen or fully orchestrated it themselves. By the way, about that guy hiding in the cave in Afghanistan that supposedly led the hijackers: In June of this year, when questioned about why Osama bin Laden's wanted poster did not mention the 9/11 attacks, an official from the FBI stated that they had "no hard evidence" of his involvement (Google "FBI no hard evidence"). 9/11 Truth Movement Gaining Steam Nineteenth century philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer said the following about truth: "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." Similarly, Gandhi said this: "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win." The importance of America and the world accepting and reacting accordingly to the horrible truth about 9/11 cannot be overstated. If you think it doesn't affect you because you didn't lose anybody on 9/11, or you don't have any loved ones (civilians or military) in the midst of George W. Bush's subsequent and utterly bogus "war on terror", I would urge you in the strongest possible terms to rethink your position. We must not only be concerned with exacting proper justice for the mass murder of 9/11. We must also be concerned with ending the tide of tyranny that has begun to wash over us as a result of that tragic day, threatening freedom, democracy, and the world as we know it. They who seek to rule us with an iron fist, pretending to protect us by destroying our liberty, must be told in no uncertain terms that we the people thoroughly reject their despotism, in favor of the constitutional democracy that our country has lived by for more than 200 years. Thankfully, many more are beginning to awaken to the truth of 9/11, and that can only be good. But we have a long way to go. There are, as you might imagine, many websites dedicated to this issue. If I could recommend a single site to point people to in the effort to grow our movement, it would be Scholars for 9/11 Truth. Bookmark it and refer to it often. You will also reach many other sites from there. The single most influential voice of the 9/11 truth movement is unquestionably Alex Jones. Visit his sites here and here. In June of this year, Jones conducted a 9/11 symposium that was broadcast multiple times on CSPAN. Put 90 minutes aside and watch it here. In addition to the Jones symposium and its multiple broadcasts on CSPAN, two national polls have recently come out (one just last week) that show very significant doubt of the "official story" of 9/11 among the American people, indicating rapid mainstream growth of the 9/11 truth movement. A Scripps Howard / Ohio University poll, released last week, reveals that 36 percent of Americans now believe it is either "somewhat likely" or "very likely" that the government was involved in the 9/11 attacks. Additionally, a Zogby International Poll, released in May, revealed that 42 percent of Americans believe that the (9/11 Commission and the government are "covering up". These numbers might seem surprising, given the precious little positive exposure our movement has received from the mainstream media to this point (with the exception, of course, of the excellent coverage of the Jones 9/11 Symposium by CSPAN). But I believe what they actually reveal is that as people continue to witness things like the mountain of Bush lies that launched the disaster that is Iraq, his pathetic lack of any kind of coherent plan to get us out, warrantless wiretapping, secret examining of our banking records, bogus signing statements, his belief that he is above the law, and his obvious contempt for the Constitution ("Stop throwing the Constitution in my face...It's just a goddamned piece of paper"), they're putting two and two together, questioning everything, doing their homework and learning the truth for themselves. Imagine where these poll numbers will go if the mainstream media really starts giving the truth movement some legitimate coverage. From the Zogby poll, incidentally, it's also very interesting to note that 43 percent were not aware of the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 on 9/11. This was a 47-story building that did have small fires burning in various places, but was not hit by any airplane, nor by either of the falling twin towers, yet collapsed straight down, at free-fall speed, into its own footprint at around 5:30 that afternoon. There has never been an official explanation given for the collapse of building 7, and the 9/11 Commission completely ignored the collapse in its final report. Is it not disturbing that a 47-story building became the third steel frame structure in history to completely collapse on its own, the first two being WTC towers 1 and 2 earlier that same day, and the 9/11 Commission didn't care enough to even comment on it? Many have burned for as long as several days, but no steel frame building anywhere in the world had ever collapsed due to fire before 9/11, and none have collapsed due to fire since 9/11. Pentagon False Flag As far as the Pentagon is concerned, there is no concrete evidence of a 757 crash. Something obviously did hit the building, of course, but photos indicate that it was something much smaller. A 757 is 155 feet long, 44 feet high (to the top of the rear stabilizer), with a 124 foot wingspan and two engines that are each 8 feet in diameter, each weighing 6 tons. The building is 71 feet tall. The initial Pentagon impact (before the partial building collapse) left a round hole approximately 16 feet in diameter, with fully intact windows directly above and to each side. There was no initial damage to the building where the wings, engines or tail of a 757 would have hit. Whatever really did hit the Pentagon is no doubt seen clearly on the security videotapes that were confiscated from the nearby gas station and Sheraton National Hotel by the FBI within minutes of the impact on the morning of 9/11, which is why they have never been released. Doesn't it seem odd that our TV screens were plastered with thousands of images of planes flying into the World Trade Center in the first few days after 9/11, yet we have never been shown the full motion video of the Pentagon impact that is known to exist? What are they hiding? The PNAC Factor No story on this issue would be complete without mentioning the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), a neo-conservative, pro-war "think tank", hell bent on mobilizing America's massive military strength to serve their own worldwide imperial mission. PNAC counts among its membership such prominent people as Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secreatry Donald Rumsfeld, Cheney's former chief of staff Scooter Libby, Rumsfeld's former assistant Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz (who now heads the World Bank), and Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida and the president's brother. In September of 2000, PNAC issued a report called Rebuilding America's Defenses (you'll need a pdf file reader – get it free from Adobe), which is basically their war manifesto. Wolfowitz is said to be the main architect of the manifesto, which is based on a document called "The Wolfowitz Doctrine", written in 1992 by then Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Wolfowitz and his then assistant Libby. Of course, PNAC couldn't initiate their plan without having people in very prominent positions in government to pull the right strings. That's why Cheney, when tapped to lead the search for George W. Bush's vice presidential running mate for the 2000 election, chose himself. He then of course made sure his long time, war mongering, neocon friend Don Rumsfeld (they go back to the Nixon administration together) was inserted as the new Defense Secretary, another key position. Wolfowitz and Libby followed to fill their respective positions in the new Bush government. See my original article on 9/11 – "The Ugliest Truth", for details on the cozy little 35 year friendship between Rummy and Uncle Dick, as well as many links for you to explore regarding the truth about 9/11. The problem the PNAC had, even with all the right people in place, was that they couldn't launch a war and initiate their plan just because they wanted to. The people would never go for it, and Congress would never fund it. They needed an excuse. Indeed, this is something they themselves recognized. On page 51 of "Rebuilding America's Defenses" (again, issued in September of 2000, one year before 9/11), you will find the following quote: "Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor." So once again, I ask you: 19 pissed off guys with boxcutters, whose only apparent benefit was the supposed 72 virgins waiting for them when they got to the other side, or a rouge criminal element within our own government, with the means, motive and standing to benefit tremendously, both financially and politically? May the truth soon be revealed for the entire world to see. www.johnperryonline.com John Perry is a radio personality, freelance writer and citizen activist. Resolved Question: Outlook for Yahoo's market position with their product?

What is the outlook on Yahoo, I am thinking that they are ok being #2 to Google, it may be risky as Google may be flying too high now or maybe not. Thinking being #2 for Yahoo is still a good thing, purchasing stock which seems in a trough now (close to 52 wk low) with intro of VOIP and other revenues from ads, would this not be a safe 3-5 year investment? Also in order to buy MSN we must purchase Microsoft stock, which does not reflect the true performance of the MSN search engine but the whole MS corp. I'm thinking that Yahoo can't lose, but fear I'm missing something, I think they've had the crap scared out of them by Google and may be mounting some exciting things to fight back, if Google is $380, why would it be unrealistic to think that Yahoo should be worth at least half of that or if Google is inflated by double it would still stand to reason that Yahoo could climb to half of the deflated Google price and wind up at $90. Will Yahoo likely make sustainable profit?Yes I saw the same article about googles market share++ BUT Yahoo stilll has MILLIONS of users, also the numbers are scewed, you have to compare europe/Asia/NA Yahoo's market share seems to be better in NA and the Google ++ mkt share seems to reflect Europe. I think there is nothing wrong with Being #2 like Yahoo, it is still a VERY poswerful position to be in, I'm thinking of sinking $50-60K into the stock and need to know what the dark side may look like. Like I said, it seems to be in the safe part of the trough, but I'm know there are some aspect I'm not aware of ... specifically concerned with their VOIP play, they could STEAL a large market share if they are quicker to market with the product. more
