Resolved Question: Inserting blank Verbatin DL DVD disk causes drive to seek endlessly?

When I put the disk in, it begins seeking infinitely and slows the computer down to a crawl, though the CPU usage doesn't go up. The drive light stays on, and the disk will not eject. I have to turn the computer off, then back on to get the disk out. This doesn't happen with blank single layer DVD disks. This is a homebuilt system running Windows XP Pro wth all the updates installed. Motherboard - Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe, bios 0901 DVD drive - Asus SATA DRW-2014L1T, bios 1.02, supports all DVD formats single and double layer. Main hard drive - Maxtor 7H500F0 SATA2 2 gigs ram As far as I can tell, I have all the motherboard's latest drivers installed. Nero's infotool indicates all ASPI layers are installed correctly. The device manager shows no missing drivers or conflicts. I'm guessing its an SATA problem or a bios setting problem. I have NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Controller, driver v.5.10.2600.552. Any help much appreciated. Its a brand new DVD taken right out of the plastic wrapper and put in the drive. Its weird because this is Verbatim, the best quality media there is. Plus the disk is recognized as a blank DVD just fine in my old IDE DVD drive. more
