Open Question: I just broke my laptop screen!!! HELP!!!?
My laptop suddenly shut down while I was surfing... I got angry and threw this toy ball at the screen and it broke :( It looks like a crack on the top right side... I can only see like half of the screen properly. How do I fix it? Can I like give this to PC world... will they fix it? I got my laptop at Currys though. How much will it cost to repair? Can it even be repaired? D: I need as much help as I can please... My laptop became infected with trojans and spyware because of a doggy download which opened a hole for this stuff to spread. That rouge software winPc defender installed itself onto my computer. Although I was able to get rid of that pretty quickly and other stuff as well (using norton360, spybot and spyware doctor) that annoying "Insecure Internet Activity. Threat Of Virus Attack" message kept coming up, I also found that whilst using google i would be redirected to pages not relevant to what a had search for (such as blinkx or myspace video) Using smitfraudfix I was able to remove that message But since I have used smitfraudfix my laptop has been running very slowly and has been crashing and failing seemingly at random. Whenever i try a google search on IE7 it still directs me to blinx and other places that I DID NOT type into the search engine and so I began to lose patience and I downloaded firefox3. Despite countless scans and checks nothing ever comes up so I suspect some spyware or malware may have sneaked its way undereath so that it is virtually impossible to detect. After Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong and how I can get my laptop to run as smoothly as possible? The antivirus/ antimalware software I have on my laptop is: Windows Live One Care, Spyware Doctor, Registry Mechanic, Spybot, Malwarebytes Its going to be hard to back things up whilst there is still some malware hidden so what can be done? moreVoting Question: How do i display chinese characters?

At random times, it can be after minutes, or hours, the wifi network gives me "limited access" for a few seconds before I become disconnected from the network all together and have to switch the router off then back on. None of the "repair" options seem to work, and I'm well within range of the router. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it. Continuation from question... and any other cd;s along those lines. Recently, i have had my laptop fixed because i had stupidly overwritten the vista os. I have an acer that didnt come with any recovery cd's whatsoever. Now in the case of me overwriting my vista os (which will never happen again, but u never know) is there any way i can make a cd that will get vista back? Also, if my computer gets a virus and when it turns on it turns back off again is there any way i can make a cd that will fix this? My friend's e-machines Vista Home Basic Laptop won't connect to his ADDON GWAR3000 Router. The other XP Professional PCs and his xBox 360 will connect easily, but his laptop won;t connect with an Ethernet Cable or over wireless. When it comes up as Access to local and Internet, but when he tries to sign in on msn it comes up as an error with key ports, and when he tries to repair the connection, it either comes up with there are no errors, or the laptop is experiencing connectivity problems. Hi all. The plastic casing part around my laptop screen and the (sorry if not correct terms but I don't know much about laptops) jointy part which connects the screen to the main hard-drive/keyboard part has broken. I can't put the screen down anymore if I do it gets stuck (I stupidly attempted to force it down making the sides around the screen unclip around the screen). My laptop looks silly now! Is there anywhere I can buy new surrounding casing thing (The plastic part of the laptop). And how can repair it? Or how much roughly would it cost? I've been having a bit of trouble with my Toshiba Satellite A300 laptop and I wondered if anybody here can help me please. Today, I was busy so left my laptop running whilst I did work and when I came back to it about an hour later, I noticed that it was freezing a lot. I turned it off and on again via the power button and after the main Toshiba screen, it just went black. I tried restarting several times and replacing the battery but nothing seemed to work. I eventually left it for a while and when I tried again, I got the Vista loading screen. However, it seemed to be going on for ages and in the end, turned itself off. I've tried system restore and startup repair but whenever I try to access them Windows loads the files and then shuts down or loads a blue "Windows has crashed" screen. I have also tried booting into Ubuntu live CD's (8.04 and 9.04) but I am getting a load of errors after loading and it's refusing to work... I really need this laptop to work as soon as possible as it is my main one for doing work when I'm out and about. I don't mind losing the files and programs as long as the laptop works. i have a hp pavilion dv6000 (i think - it has no webcam) and after someone fucked with my cable and poured chocolate all over my graphics card, i ended up using it for a while til i bought a new cable ( i didn't know the internal damage at the time) but as soon as i started using this one i had my screen shaking when i turned it on and it became more regular, and i then noticed the graphics card and cleaned it and it still shook, but eventually it started not being able to turn on properly, and i am wondering if there is any chance it could be repaired (i also lost my recovery discs) to a fully working status if so at what cost would this be? thanks for any help you may give. moreResolved Question: audio device and driver?

I'm looking for a repair shop that deals specifically with laptops. I live in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, so places like notting hill and high street kensington would be very close to me. I don't know which shop to try so if there is anyone that has taken their laptop for repair at any particular store or know of a good laptop repair shop, please let me know. It works perfectly, it's just the hinge that is slightly broken, and the plastic bit that covers the hinge has come off, and the metal part if slightly lifted. It is hard to describe. More of a hardware problem thing. But the laptop works just fine. I'm scared that if i keep opening and closing the hinge will completely be ruined. I can already see it slightly breaking. It is an advent 9315Medium dave- who would i go to to get the hinge metal part thing screwed back further down, and do you think that will be expensive? It was in for repair for the second time and they said it was "irrepeairable" because of a crack in the motherboard ? Recently i bought a 640GB silver Seagate FreeAgent. I got it mainly to back up all my data on my Playstation3 and Laptop/PC. I need to back up the data on my Playstation3 because I am sending it to Sony hopefully to get it repaired/replaced because there is something wrong with the fans. I also discovered that the Playstation3 only recognises USB Storage devices if they are formatted to FAT32 only. When I got my hard drive, it was formatted to NFTS. I then followed an online tutorial on how to convert it to FAT32 using a program called SwissKnife, apparently lots of people use it. So I did it changed it to the FAT32 format (ithink) but then realized that the memory/space of the hard drive had been greatly reduced. it was about 600GB+ but now it is 94GB. lol what the hell??? Now I own an iPod too and know you can restore it to its Factory settings in case something goes wrong or if anything is corrupt and you want to start over. I want to know if there is any way of doing exactly this except on a hard drive which I could do to hopefully get that space back and re-format it to its original type. here's a little bit of background.... My laptop had a few problems, i.e. Speakers and monitor, so i got it repaired under an insurance policy i had. Since i got it back i haven't been able to connect to the internet. Initially it said 'invalid I.P. address' in the connection status box. Using a help guide from my Sky Broadband book i manually entered an IP address and much to my suprise i was able to connect to my router. Now though, i am unable to open a web page because my connection is lost and found every five seconds and is also lost whenever i try to connect to a page. That description is about as technical as i go so any kind of help would be muchos appreciated... right.. my laptop screen, the laptop is 5 monhts old... 2 weeks back my laptop before my login page when i started it up came up with a screen saying sommin about programmes being removed has damaged vista let it repair itself.. so ido.... and then it went completly slow for a few days like DEAD SLOW... but now its fine, but now..... it comes up randomly with a white flashing/ partially see through screen, so like i can see my games behind it etc.... but only some parts ... it like i donno how to describe it but its just like a white combination lines that judder about flash and move around....so annoying like my spelling and grammar in this question.... hey i have a compaq presario C700. I got a new hard drive for it about a week or to ago and it crashed on me not to long ago. When I press the on button it loads up and and says: Windows Error Recovery Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem: 1. Ok, everything was working last night but wake up this morning with a problem. I cannot connect to the internet wireless for anything (my laptop, itouch, ps3) Im online now because my computer is connected to the router... so yeah... On the laptop, the network is shown, i click connect but it stays on the"acquiring network address" and stays there... I try and click the 'repair' button, it goes through the stuff, but stops and stays on 'renewing IP address' (Don't know if that helps)Yeah, iv turned it all off, took apart the wires and put them back - turned on and nothing... I just bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 and have a Netgear router. 2 laptops in my house already work perfectly well on this network but for some reason mine cannot connect. It says the connection level is too low. We have turned on the wireless switch and tried everything we can think of, including IP Address repairs and re-connecting. I find it strange that our router requires a Login and Password everywhere else but on my laptop I only have the option to input a passcode... My ex-girlfriend bought a laptop, which broke after a few years of usage. Subsequently we broke up, and she gave the laptop to me saying she didn't want it as it was "broken and useless". It attracted dust in my attic for three years, until I had a clear-out of all my old junk. Instead of binning it, I decide to get it repaired, which cost me quite a lot. I spoke to the ex yesterday, and mentioned that the laptop was working again. Now, she is demanding it back... after nearly four years, and says she will take me to court to get it. Given the time elapsed, the fact she gave it to me, and that I paid for it to be repaired, can she claim it from me? Ok basically, when i turn on my laptop i get the dell manufacture startup thing and then i get the boot screen which said "Starting Windows Vista." (but not the actual logo just the bit at the bottom) After that screen though, my screen just goes black, like it appears as if it is turned off, and it wont do anything or boot up and there is no cursor. i have tried startup repair but it just wont work; it just stays like it for hours and hours. I dont no what has happened my my laptop is well and truly fuc**d. lol. it now takes forever to load, if it dose at all and its not unlikley for it to shut down and crash unexpextdly. i cant log on properly to the different users and my windows seems to have gone back to old 98 style. Last Monday, I attempted to start up my Asus X58L, which I bought in February. It wouldnt start. When we returned from holiday, I took it back to the shop (on friday) I had bought it from (Staples). They told me that I would need to go home, ring an 0870 number and then return it to the shop with a referance number from Asus, for it to then be sent to the manufacturers to be repaired, a process that can take weeks. The person in the shop then asked if she could plug it in to see how it was playing up, and it then decided to work. I bought it home, and it worked yesterday (saturday). I turned it on this morning, and it worked fine. Then, when I got home from the cinema, I tried to turn it on to book train tickets, and it wouldnt start. I have tried to ring the landline version of the 0870 number (there are several websites telling you the alternative) and I got through to an automated service telling me it is only open monday to friday 8:30 to 5:30. I would like to know if there is something that I can do without affecting the warranty, and if not, where I should go to get my money back, as I do not want to continue with this computer if it is going to continue to behave as it is. ThanksIt wont even start up. The green light on the box comes on, but none on the actual laptop. I want to sell a laptop I have (actually a desktop too) but I don't feel comfortable selling something like that on Ebay and it's not in perfect condition. It has a faulty battery and just had the power lead repaired by a computer company. I really want to sell it to an electrical company so they can check it over before they sell it. It was around £2000 new. I don't know where to go with it lol. It is heavy which is why it's no good for me. (I had an op on my shoulder so I can't lift it even with my other shoulder. My Acer laptop crashed about a week back. I had important data on the C drive so I installed linux operating system on the D drive and managed to get the data. Now when I try to bring the Acer erecovery page by pressing ALT+F10, it still goes on linux operating system. When I press F8 for additional boot options that also doesn't work. When I go on windows startup repair and enter into command prompt, it doesnot accept the command for formatting (format d:) instad it gives me an error 'the drive is locked'. Does it cover accidental damage on the front facing of the laptop (when fully closed). It hasn't impacted the functionality of the machine. but I have like an small chip/dent on the facing. My wireless connection drops very frequently. It either goes into Limited Connectivity or Drops all connections in my area. (There is about 8 differnt SIDD's in my area and they ALL drop out) They only drop out when i am connected. I did diognose and repair and it said "There is a problem with one or more adapters on this system" I have tryed everything!!!!! IP Stack Repair, Winsock Repair, Reset My Modern, reinstalled my adapter, updated the drivers, windows update, installed latest firmware, changed the channels, uncheck the "Alow this laptop to turn off this device" box, EVERYTHING I use 2 Moderns, (one at my nans, one at my mums) and they both act the same and the moderns are differnt so there should be no excuse. WHAT CAN I DO, I REALLY DONT WANNA BUY A NEW ADAPTER, IS THERE ANYTHKING I CAN DOWNLOAD, OR CHANGE OR ANYTHING!!!!!!!! The laptop which had all of my songs on my iTunes has completely broke (it can't be repaired) anyway I need to update my iPod but if I plug it into my sisters computer which has her iTunes on there, does this mean all of my songs will be deleted and replaced with hers? The cable is broken between the charger box and jack (into laptop) The cable is very similar to coaxial cable or shealded cable. I cut in to accidentally when moving my car seat, the charger happened to be under the seat and laying in the runner which cut the cable.
