Ok heres the story: I wanted to try to play my ds online but my WPA security wouldnt allow it to do so. So I temporarily disabled security to try the ds. Open Question: How to make sound pass through my computer?

I record my own music on my computer (an HP G60-120US notebook running Vista Home Premium 32-Bit). I record and mix with the latest version of Sony Acid Xpress. My inputs and my outputs work just fine independently and my machine runs perfectly. I have been using the 1/8" (3.5mm) input on my computer to record the sound and I have no problems and virtually no white noise. I tried using several different kinds of splitters to send the sound to a monitor before the computer and the splitter introduces significant white noise. I don't currently have a mixer or the money to get one right now. I want to be able to plug my instrument/mic into the computer and have the sound go through the audio output of the computer. How can I do that? Example of my setup: Electric Guitar (1/4" output) --> Digitech RP50 Processor (1/4" input and output) --> 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapter --> 1/8" input on computer I need to put some sort of audio output after the computer so I don't have white noise, but can hear myself play. How do I configure my computer to do such? more

Open Question: Why can't I connect to my uncle's PC with VNC Viewer?

My uncle is relatively new to PCs and I have been trying to remotely help him use his computer. I have been trying to initiate a connection with my VNC Viewer but kept getting a connection timeout error. Before I left when I visited my uncle, I had setup a wireless router so his daughter can go online on her notebook without having to wait for my uncle to finish using his computer. I also setup a network printer so the two can share one printer. I had set the wireless router to remote management and setup Dynamic DNS. On my uncle's PC I had installed the VNC server and setup it so that it would be in user-mode so my uncle could allow my VNC viewer to connect at his own discretion. When I got home, I managed to connect to my uncle's router's web interface and forwarded port 5900-5910 to my uncle's PC. After I asked my uncle to launch the VNC server, I tried to use my VNC viewer and could not connect. Neither his DDNS domain or IP worked. I forwarded port 80 to my uncle's network printer and managed to connect to his printer's web interface, so port forwarding on the router should be working. And also the ISP should not be blocking port 5900 since even port 80 can pass. I also do remember that I was able to run VNC viewer on my cousin's notebook and connect to my uncle's VNC server. Both the viewer and the server are Real VNC Is there anything I can try? Did I forget anything?Thanks to those that have posted so far. I am trying out your ideas. more

Resolved Question: Am I going through some weird phase? Or am I just a total basket case?

I've never really experienced a lot of... uh... phase-behavior. And I never thought I'd actually hope that something was a phase, but I kinda do? I'm three days away from fifteen, so it's possible, right? I'm on the verge of anti-social or something. I get calls from friends, and I tell them that I have to vacuum, or my parents are dragging me out somewhere, or I've already got plans with someone else, ect. I used to enjoy going out with my friends. It didn't happen much, because I'm not good at the whole introducing myself to someone deal, so I didn't and still don't have many friends anyway. But still, before this year, I always liked hanging out with my friends. It's weird, I just don't want to get out of the house. I like being here, alone. I'd much rather sit at my computer, or write in a notebook, or talk with my mom. If I go out of my own accord, it's to take a walk around a few blocks, alone. And I mean, yeah, I enjoy being alone and everything. But you're only young for so long. I feel as though I'm wasting it or something. And my boyfriend says that every time he sees me I'm in a different mood. One day I'll be happy and talkative, and the next he can barely get a word from me. I never realized it, but, yeah. That's pretty much how it is. And I've noticed too, this year, that some major obsessive compulsive habits have developed (although, my mom has OCD, is it's probably just inherited). Also, in the last few months, I've noticed that I have a lot more, I don't know, anxious. I'm always fidgeting, biting my nails/lip, cracking my knuckles, playing with earrings or my tongue stud. And when I'm walking, I just get so concerned about it if someone's looking at me, like I feel pressured to "walk right" or something. But is anyone else doing this? Are you guys as concerned as I am? Did anyone else do this growing up? What happened of it? Does anyone have a kid who's like this? What's he/she/you doing about it? Open Question: My HDD is locked using HDDerase 4.0?

This program called HDD erase has set up a password for my Hard Drive to make it "secure" and it said the password is "idrive" when it's not.. I tried entering that password 40 times differently also to thepoint when my computer says "System disabled"... I cant believe i locked myself out of my own computer.. The BIOS is Phoenix and the computer model is ACER 5570Z Series NOTEBOOK. I tried MHDD which didnt fix it.. Does anyone know a way to fix it WITHOUT having to take the HARD DRIVE out to plug into another computer? more

Open Question: Why has my internet's speed become slow and inconsistent?

For about a month now my computer's download speed has been pretty low and inconsistent. I used to run on a seven year old emachines computer so I thought that the problem came from the computer. I just got a new one (specs below) but the internet is still slow. It's not that noticeable when simply visiting websites and such but when I try to watch videos or download bigger sized files, the problem is very noticeable. Download speeds usually average from 70-100kbps. They used to average 140-170kbps and that was still while running on a very old and slow, 7 year old computer. Like I mentioned, the speeds are very inconsistent as they sometimes do reach the 140-170kbps, but it is very rare nowadays. Anyway, like I said, I got a new computer but the problems persist. I've tested speeds by downloading Mozilla Firefox (yesterday I was at my neighbor's house and saw that she downloaded the installation file at 250kbps and we have the same internet provider and I'm pretty sure we have the same plan) once while connected to the internet through an ethernet cable, and another while connected wirelessly and the results were pretty much the same. Any help on how I could improve my internet's speed would be very helpful. Thank you. I have a 2Wire 2700HG-B modem. Open Question: My Dell notebook CD/DVD drive is not working? Help me please?

I have to open it with a paper clip because the button to eject does not work. Once i insert the cd/dvd and close it with my hand it doesn't read it. So i try it manually and i go to my computer and click on DVD/CD drive, and it tells me "please insert a disc into drive E" and then i get another message saying: "DVD/CD-RW Drive (E:)' is currently in use. I've been looking for a notebook computer but I dont know which kind to get. I dont want to spend too much money.. but obviously for a decent computer that's obviously hard to avoid. I found an Asus Eee PC for $180 and everything it offers and its reviews seem legit. But I compared it too Dell and Acer notebooks and those two obviously have more to offer and of course cost more. I've had horrible luck with computers in the past and have been dreading getting my own again...but I'm also tired of having to use my brother's laptop all the time. I am hoping to get one that can store up to 400 songs for my ipod and still have enough storage for a few pics, etc., has a webcam, and works at a decent speed. And the reason i want a mini laptop as opposed to a regular sized one is because of the fact that i really dont do well with computers and need something simple. more

Open Question: no internet connection until restart computers again?

I have 2 desktops, 1 notebook, 1 printer and 1 i-phone. all they are connected to the internet using iptime router. But recently I've got problem with internet connection. I can connected to the internet using 1 desktop(say 1st desktop). But while I use that deskop, if I turn on another desktop (say 2nd desktop), this has no internet. So I should turn off 1st desktop and restart 2nd desktop. Then internet is connectod in both desktops. i-phone is fine with internet connection. And If I turn on laptop firsly, it has no internet. So again, I should turn off 1st desktop and restart 2nd desktop. all computers are connected to internet like this. I don't know what's problem? help me. I want an internet connection anytime, any of my computers independently from other my computers. more

Voting Question: Docking problems: HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station?

Hello, I recently bought a HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station and haveing some problems. When I plug it into my computer I can only hear sound comeing from the Dock itself and not from the laptop. Is there a way to allow sound to come from both the Docking Station and the Laptop speakers? Also when I plug in the Dock I can't use my IDT Audio Equalizer. I'm not sure but I think my laptop thinks I am pluging in headphones, because instead of a picture of speakers in the IDT Audio Setup menu there is a picture of headphones. I found a notebook lying around in my house. It's really pretty, and I don't want to use it for random junk. I kinda want my notebook to have a theme. The question is, what should I write/draw in it? My Dell Inspiron notebook computer has quit recognizing the CD-Ram/DVD player as a drive. I can insert a disc and I can hear it spinning but nothing happens and it isn't recognizing. Also, I used to be able to plug my iphone to my laptop via USB and charge it/download pics from iphone to computer. Now, it will not recognize that either. I have recently fixed our tv by de-soldering the old caps and soldering in new ones. Is this something I could TRY to fix? Ok, so I have asked a bunch of questions concerning macs vs. pcs. I'm going to say what I will use it for and can you please help me with what the best laptop is for me off of that. Ok, so I don't want a computer for gaming (because that is not what I will be doing). I want a computer that will give me everything I need from typing papers to internet browsing. I want a laptop for college, not for any sort of gaming/useless stuff. I'm leaning towards a mac, but consider money to not be much of an issue. What would you recommend? I am probably going into a math/chemical engineering (a master's in environmental engineering), so please take that into consideration. I also want a computer that will last for a good deal of time before needing to buy a new one and also one that I won't have to fiddle with a bunch of spyware/virus/systems stuff. Resolved Question: Hellllppp!! Speakers on my laptop....?

Ok, this started happening about 7 months ago. I have built in speakers on my laptop (it's Windows Vista on a Compaq Presario F767CL Notebook PC, if that matters). I also have headphones that I use sometimes as well. Well about 7 months ago, like I said, suddenly the speakers started acting weird. Like, the built in ones would be fine, but when I would decide to use my headphones instead, once I unplugged them from the computer when I wanted to use the built-in speakers again, there was no sound! It would only work when I put the headphones in. Then randomly the speakers would work again when I would start up the computer. But it would take many times, like I'd say I'd start and shut down the computer maybe 15 times, before the speakers would suddenly work again. But if I plug in headphones, the speakers won't work when I take the headphones out. ARGH I'm so frustrated, I don't know what to do! Does anybody know what this is and how to FIX IT???! more

Resolved Question: How do I "lock the Fn key" on my Dell Inspiron 15 notebook?

Hi, I've been trying forever to fix this problem of mine. I recently just got a new laptop (Dell Inspiron 15) and I don't like the fact that it has the F1~F12 in BLUE (meaning I have to use Fn) and the other functions such as battery meter, wireless toggle, volume controls, brightness, etc in white (meaning its just a button press without Fn). Whenever I want to use an F# key, I'd have to press Fn. Is there any way to "lock" they Fn key? Or if not, at least reverse its function so that F# is a single press without the Fn? Keep in mind, I've searched around on the web and everything says "try pressing Fn+Scroll Lock/Num Lock", but my computer DOES NOT HAVE EITHER OF THOSE TWO BUTTONS! The only lock I have is Caps Lock, but that doesn't seem to help me here. Any ideas? more

What is the best laptop ever? I was recently wanting a Dell Inspiron 1525 in Pink, but I heard some reviewers say it wasn't very good. Voting Question: My disk drive won't open or read the disk, what should i do?

I have a Compaq Presario C700 Notebook and whenever i try to open the tray nothing happens. There is no light or noises, it's just stuck. I've tried the pin trick and yeah it opens it but when i insert a disk it doesn't read it.. it just doesn't respond. I have went into my computer and my devices to see what the error is but it says my CD drive is working fine. It was like this for a while then the light would suddenly come on and i'd be able to use my drive but the problem seems to have worsened. Help!Okay i've been looking at my network adapters( i read that could have something to do with it) and it says 6T04 with an exclamation mark next to it. Is this error affecting my drive? more
